When the students have arrived, Captain Liberty gives them all a big smile. Last week's cardigan has been completely done away with. It was annoying and didn't go with the outfit.

"Welcome back! Today's going to be a pretty easy day, but don't think it's less important," she tells them. "Last week you took on superhero names. This week you're going to try to protect them. This is kind of an improv exercise, something you end up having to do a lot of in superhero work. Pair up. One of you will be the superhero keeping a mild-mannered and very ordinary facade going, and the other will play a close friend or family member who's just found something typing you to your superhero. Maybe they noticed that you look a lot alike, or hey, you didn't show up to your best friend's party because you were saving a train full of people or something. Do whatever you have to to keep your superheroness a secret, short of punching anyone because then I have to give detention. Be as creative as you want, and try to pair up with people you don't know. If you need help with anything, I'll be around, as will my TA, Princess Powerful. Have fun with it, guys."

Teddy frowned. "I'm not an aerobics instructor!"

"And what about you? Thinking about coming clean about your witchy ways?"

"I've seen you, late at night, put on stylish ascots to go out and secretly 'fight crime'. You can tell me these thing, you know. I'm okay with it." She spread open her hands to show just how understanding she was.

"And I'm afraid I'm not a witch. If you're looking for someone with general magic power, you might want to go talk to Willow or Briar."

It wasn't technically untrue -- acronyms were different things.

"And I don't fight crime," Teddy said. Not here, at least. "What about you, hmm? You disappear quite regularly. How do we know you're not off thwarting evil doers?"

"Because I'm actually doing pretty well in my classes here. If I was fighting evil all the time, my grades wouldn't be nearly as good." They certainly weren't back home.

"And what about that whole turning big and green thing you do every so often? That seems awfully superhero-ish to me," she said, turning the conversation back to him.

"I am very offended by that," Teddy said with mock indignation. "Not every alien is a superhero, you know."

"Oh, I apologize for that. I'd hate to be speciest." She tried to look aghast at the very idea of it. "What about aliens who have public codenames, rather similar to codenames used by famous superheroes?"

"All part of the rich alien heritage," Teddy said, trying not to laugh.

Will sighed in happiness, and placed her hands over her heart, trying (and failing just a bit) to keep a straight face. "It's so nice to know that aliens also have a rich superhero tradition, just like us Terrans. It makes you like really we're not all that different after all."

It was a losing battle to keep from laughing, really. "You're doing this transference thing. Stop pushing your own superhero problems onto me."

"And there's nothing super or heroic about the tradition of my people," Teddy said, sniffing haughtily. "I wouldn't expect a human such as you to understand that."

This whole thing kept getting harder to do without breaking out into laughter. Will fought to prevent the giggles, but she was still getting near the cracking point.

"Nothing super or heroic about the tradition of your people?" She reached over to try and lay a sympathetic hand on top of his. "Oh Teddy, you don't have to be ashamed of where you come from. It's okay to embrace your people's traditions. Just let it all out."

And now Teddy couldn't stop himself from laughing. "This totally isn't fair if you already know about your partner being a superhero."

Teddy's laughing broke down th last of Will's resolve, and she finally broke out into laughter too.

"You're right, it probably isn't. But that's the class assignment, so that's what I have to do."

"What? Make me laugh with comments about embracing my heroic alien heritage?" Teddy asked, grinning.

She tried to feign innocence. "Oh? Wasn't that it?"

Teddy laughed. "Careful, or else we'll find out that it's an alien tradition to hide frogs."

Will pressed a hand to her chest in mock horror. "I'm sure that something as terrible and cruel as that would be banned by all sorts of interstellar treaties."

"Oh, you'd like to think that, wouldn't you?"
