Lana gave him a Look. "Do that and you won't ever have to worry about my breathing distracting you again."

"Whoa!" Jim held up his hands defensively. "No breathing from Blair. Gotcha."

Lana grinned. "Good. I'm the only one who gets to do the breathing thing around you."

"And you do it so well," Jim told her.

Lana smiled at him. "You're not so bad yourself."

Jim preened. "Thanks."

She reached out to touch his face, her meal totally forgotten. She just left her hand there for a moment, looking at him and smiling softly. "Love you," she said quietly.

He nuzzled into her hand, pressing a soft kiss to her palm. "Love you, too."

She could feel her heart melt, the way it always did when she was with him like this. "Are you sure I'm not dreaming? 'Cause this... is just too good to be true."

Jim chuckled. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "Finish your lunch."

She pulled her hand back and looked down at her tray. She picked up a forkful then put it down again. "I think I'm good," she said quietly.

Jim's jaw clenched for a minute. "Are you sure?" he said, trying not to push.

She saw his jaw clench and it made something tighten in her stomach. She managed a smile and tried another bite, but it just wasn't going to happen. "I'll grab a muffin or something on my way to work. I'll be ready for another snack then."

He ducked his head in a nod, smiling a little. "Okay." His hand slipped around her waist as he dug back into his own meal.

She leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. She even relaxed enough to have another couple of bites of lasagna.

Jim didn't comment on it. "How was the run this morning?" he asked instead.

"It went well," she said with a smile. "Not as long as we usually go, but I hadn't run in a while and my shoulder got a little achy, but it was good."

Jim glanced at her shoulder, frowning a little. "Are you feeling alright now?"

"I'm sore, but it's okay," she said. "Nothing to worry about."

He smiled. "Good." His thumb rubbed little circles at her hip. "When're you getting home from work tonight? I might have to inspect it for myself."

"I'm done at five," Lana said. "And yeah, maybe you should check it out. Very carefully. Up close, you know?" She felt her breath catch as he touched her.

"Exactly what I was thinking," he grinned at her.

She leaned in to kiss him. "Sounds like a plan."

Jim kissed her back, holding her close for a moment. "Maybe I'll walk you back?"

"Pick me up at work, you mean?" Lana said. "I'd really like that."
