[Class Roster]

"Good morning," Ellie greeted the class as the students arrived. "I recognize some of you, and it's good to see you back. I'm Dr. Ellie Arroway, but you can call me Ellie. I'm a big fan of short classes on the first day, so I'm just going to give you an overview of what the class will be this semester, see if you have any questions, and then let you go.

"Essentially, each session of this class will have a guest speaker from an extraterrestrial culture. Some of them will be students or teachers I recruit from the school, and many will be new to Fandom. They will give an overview on what life is like on their world, and the differences between their culture and life on Earth. You're encouraged to ask questions.

For today, I'd just like you to introduce yourselves and tell me why you're taking this class. I'll be here if you have any questions, otherwise you're free to go."

"Hi, I'm Lana Lang. I took an astronomy course this summer and found it fascinating. I also thought with all the people from other planets here that it would be interesting to learn more about extraterrestrials."

"I'm Naomi Wildman," Naomi said, "I've always been interested in learning about different civilizations, and since I've been at Fandom I've learnt about civilizations that I'd never heard of so I figured this course would be good for that,"

Ellie peered at Naomi. "I don't mean to be rude," she said, "but I can't help but notice your forehead. Where are you from?"

"M'Chad," Chad, never big on lengthy introductions, shrugged and added, "I took this class 'cause I thought it would be interesting."

Interesting, that was it. Certainly nothing to do with a kinda-boyfriend who happened to be an alien.

"And I've been told that the 'world' I come from is like a parallel universe. ...I figured this might be a good way to learn if that's true; and even if it's not..." She pondered. "...I've never really had much exposure to classes like these, and it really sounded interesting."

"I'm Z Delgado," Z began. "When and where I'm from, there are several different alien races with presences on Earth, and when I graduate from school I'm going to be in Space Patrol Delta, which is like a police force for alien threats. So I figured it would help to know something about them."

"Hey, I'm Summer. Guess I'm taking this class because there's so many aliens around here. Thought it might be good to learn about their cultures and stuff," Summer said. "Also, I know someone back home who's gonna be so totally jealous that I'm in this class and he's not."
