"I've got Hunting as well." Neil perked up with the universal 'hey cool, someone I know in the same class' manner of students everywhere.

He then looked back down at his plate, blushing a little. "Uh, yes...yes I have and I sorta did." Neil admitted with a rueful little grin. "I'm sorry if I upset your guy, Isabel. I mean, it wasn't meant to be like that. You were just being very nice, talking to a new kid and all."

"Oh good," Isabel replied. "A friendly face while we're being attacked by ghosts and ghould."

"About radio. Please, do not worry about it." She rolled her eyes and shook her head in fond exasperation. "If anyone was going to be fed to the gremlins...I swear, between the hot alien chick comment, the thing about my cat, threatening you. He's not really like that. The damn squirrels just got him drunk. And he never drinks so it made it that much worse."

Neil blinked.

"Squirrels?" Yes that was where his mind stuck in all of that but then he gave his head a slight shake and looked down at his lunch for a moment before smiling back up at Isabel.

"Really, I wasn't offended or anything. I didn't realize you had a boyfriend so it was an honest mistake. Still, seems like he really digs you, well...save for the cat bit, which I gottah admit was kinda inappropriate."

"Squirrels," Isabel nodded. "The little vermin are essentially reporters for the radio and bring in all the notes for the broadcasters. They see, hear, and apparently know all the happenings on the island." She felt a bit bad, it had to be hard for guy like Neil to come from some nice normal background and wind up in the insanity that was Fandom.

"You did not make any kind of mistake," she said sincerely. "Seriously, if he ever tried to tell me I couldn't talk to another guy, we probably wouldn't be dating any longer because that would mean giving up some of my very best friends. And that's just not going to happen." Isabel put her head down and shook it. "I'm totally repressing the cat comment. Cause otherwise? I'd have to kill him."

Oh, it was hard and for a few minutes Neil just sat there blinking and trying to comprehend the bit about the squirrels.

"Guess...that sort of explains why things on the radio are kinda, screwy. Squirrels are known for being indecisive."

Giving his head a shake, Neil tried to bring his focus back on what was really the important meat of the conversation and he found himself blushing all over again.

"Well you can tell him I'm more than happy to be a friend but I promise I am not scamming or otherwise looking upon you in an innapropriate manner."

Neil paused then seemed to realize how that might sound and he quickly began to back peddle a bit.

"Not that you're not totally viable for looking upon in an innapropriate manner, just that I wouldn't do that...since you have a boyfriend and I respect that." Neil trailed off, wondering if he sounded as painfully pathetic to Isabel as he did to himself and then he looked around for any lingering squirrels.

"Totally not scamming, squirrels."

"Yup that and the fact that some of the broadcasters are...," Isabel cut off her usual response of batshit crazy, "of questionable sanity. I mean seriously? Last night? Hades? Then again, this is Fandom."

Isabel smiled at the comment to the squirrels and decided it was probably best not to point out to Neil that looking was certainly not an issue and that she had no intention of not looking. Cause he was cute. Especially when he blushed. "That's good. Friends. No scamming. There's no problem with that. Not at all."
