Aly perched on top of her desk, watching her students enter the classroom with a bit of a smile. She nodded to those she knew before and smiled at the ones who looked like they were probably brand new. Once everyone was seated, she stood up and leaned against the desk.

"Good afternoon. Some of you know me already, but for those of you who don't, I'm Alianne of Pirate's Swoop. You all can call me Aly, but if you're uncomfortable with that, duani is also acceptable." She grinned. "First person to call me Miss Aly, I get to demonstrate on. This class is 'So You Say You Want a Revolution.' If you're not interested in revolutions or you thought you were taking Home Ec - that was first period. You missed it."

"During the term, we're going to talk about why formenting revolution can be a good thing. We're going to discuss what revolutions can be used for, how they can be put together, and why a failed revolution can be just as effective." She gazed at all of them with a slight smile. "And yes, I still hate theory so practicalities will be covered. Demolitions, weaponry, organisation, magic - or not, tactics." She grinned. "And my favourite, intelligence."

"Seven years ago, I helped organise a rebellion that put my Queen in power and have served as her Spymaster ever since. Almost everything I'm going to be teaching you is what I learned during the rebellion and in the years since. And if I didn't learn it there, it's something that was useful to me at the time." She paused thoughtfully, stroking her black beaded necklace. "In spying, your brain is almost everything - half of spying is half mental as I've said before. But a single person can't put together an effective revolution. But a single person can destroy one. And a failed rebellion feeds only the ravens and Stormwings. It's a dangerous game. And one you have to commit to fully if you're going to succeed."

"So today, I'd like to get to know those of you I don't know already, and I'd like to hear what you think about revolutions and rebellions. When are they appropriate, what would it take to rebel against the current power structure of your home country, society, or even this school." She smiled mischievously. "Zuko and Bridge are your TAs for this class. They'll help me with many of the aspects so if you have any questions and I'm not around, feel free to ask them."

"Well, I'm a very nice person," she told him with a wink.

"I've heard that," Josh said, nodding. "So...revolutions, huh?" he asked. "There aren't going to be any practical exercises against governments I used to work for, right?"

She grinned and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "I don't know, Mr. Lyman. Is your government oppressing its people? Are there huddled masses yearning to breathe free?"

What? She'd been reading.

Josh laughed. "Only when they have to stand in line for hours to see the Statue of Liberty in the middle of July."

"Nothing to worry about then," Aly replied lightly. "It's not like it's not something they're not thinking about. Several of the students have already participated in a rebellion - or putting one down. Why not give them a place to learn how not to fail. Or die."

Josh nodded, suddenly serious. "Big fan of not having them die, yes."

Aly smiled at him, eyes serious. "Thus - Revolutions. It hopefully will make them think and we get to blow up stuff." She looked a bit gleeful there.

Josh blinked, then shook his head. "This school," he muttered. "Be careful."

"I will be," Aly replied, still looking gleeful as she moved over to him and reached up to give him another kiss. "You're really, really good at politics, right? This? I'm really, really good at."

Josh rested his forehead against Aly's for a second. "I trust you," he said. "It's the students I'm worried about."

She put her hands on his shoulders. "I'll keep an eye on them. Besides, Danger Room. It'd be very difficult for them to hurt themselves. And in the future, it's better to know how to explode a building than not know how."

Yeah, Aly had a skewed view of how things worked.

"...you've exploded a building?"

Sometimes Josh was remarkably dense.

Aly looked wide-eyed and innocent. "It deserved it?"

"Buildings being known for their fiendish planning skills," Josh agreed.

She laughed. "Now you've got it." She shrugged. "One was a prison that we needed opened, one was a fort that was a bit too well-placed for my liking, and then I blew up the slave docks of the port. They definitely all deserved it."

Josh nodded. "I can see that," he said. He tapped Aly on the nose. "And it's a hell of a way to make a point, too."

"It worked quite well," Aly said, satisfied. "My point was received with style and panache, I think." She winked at him and reached up to tap his nose in response.

Josh grinned down at her. "I have to go do a thing--meet up later for pie?" He smiled. "I'll even leave it with you as a gesture of good faith."

"Oh, now that you said it was a gesture of good faith..." Aly said teasingly disappointed. She leaned up to kiss him again. "I'll see you later then."
