Journalism Class - Thursday September 22

The classroom is empty this morning, but Spider's left a note on the desk.

Assistant,

Take attendance, remind everyone of out-standing extra credit assignment, tell photojournalism students that I want pictures of the various students running for office (not the damn Homecoming whatsit) on my desk by Monday. Next week's homework is going to be pieces on our various aspiring politicians and I want pictures to go with.

Also, find out whatever happened to the student newspaper, as we need an electoral issue.

P.S. Find some idiot who wants to do a write-up on Homecoming. Information, pictures of candidates, statements from candidates and put together an organizational flyer. If it's done right, they get to skip homework for the rest of the year.

Jake shuffles in, holding a cup of psuedo-coffee and looking tired. He eyes the cappuchino machine malvolently while sipping his cup.

Phoebe is thankful that Spider left her much to keep her busy. After yesterday, she needs it. She sits at his desk and starts speaking to the feeds to turn them on. As she's listening to them she starts making notations on what he wants everyone to do.

Taking care to not shake his coffee all over the place, Jake leans over to try and see what she's writing. "So what's lord high mighty boss-man's orders for today?"

Phoebe gives Jake a genuine smile. He, at least as far as she knew, had not witnessed her make a fool of herself yesterday.

"I need to find the rest of the newspaper staff as he wants an electoral issue to be put out. He also wants me to find someone to put together and informational flyer on the candidates and the election."

Jake smiled back automatically and suddenly wished he'd taken the time to brush his hair that morning. "Um, I think our editor got eaten or something, but the rest of us should be around..." He glanced around the classroom. "Somewhere?"

"Well, there's you and me...do you know where any of the others are?"

Jake stares blankly into the air as he tries to remember who's even supposed to be in the newspaper group. "Well, there's. That Irish guy whatshisname -- something Irish. And the two blonde girls. Tiny." He held his hand flat around desk high. "Wee tiny blondes. Oh and her!" He pointed at Rory as she entered.

Phoebe nods.

"Veronica and Chloe. I can probably find them."

"Yeah, them," Jake nods. "Oh and tiny brunette who wanted to write stories or something. Don't remember her name, though."

Phoebe waves back at Angela, relieved to see her.

"Do you want to get lunch after class?," Angela asks her friend.

Phoebe looks pale and shakes her head at Angela. "We could order something and eat in here though? I don't really want to see anyone else..."

Angela remembers the scene she had witnessed in study hall the day before, and winces sympathetically. "I totally understand that. I'm pretty sure Luke's delivers ... should I call them?"

"That would great." The relief in Phoebe's voice is evident. She plans to hide out in the lab for as long as she's allowed to.

Angela smiles. "So that's a plan."

Angela smiles and goes off to find a phone.

A very pissed-off looking Beka stalks in. It's a damned good thing she doesn't have a weapon. She mutters, "Hate songs. He sends me frelling hate songs," signs the attendance roster, and leaves.

Jake lowers his coffee and stops giving Phoebe oh-so-subtle googly eyes to stare at Jayne. "...Now that's what I call an enterance."

Veronica enters the room and spots her roommate. They haven't talked in ages, so she goes to sit next to her.
