When the students walk in, they should notice a woman standing at the front of the room. Wearing a really pretty revealing costume... and a cardigan over it so students won't be staring at her chest. Shhh. It's more professional for the first day.

"Good morning!" she says once everyone's taken their seats, a syllabus on every desk. "I'm Captain Liberty, and welcome to Superheroing 101. I am a professional superhero. Trust me, I wouldn't dress like this on a normal basis." God, she hates the cardigan. She feels like one of those really young teachers she had in school who used to dress like her grandma. Luckily she's missing the lacy collar and the flats with bows on them. "In this class, you'll get to learn the ins and outs of identifying a bad guy, getting rid of one, and also dealing with the, um, more personal sides of it. And by the way, no, I don't have superpowers. They're great and definitely a help if you have them, but hopefully by the end of this you'll figure out that having common sense and the right mindset helps just as much. Also, if you know the people I do, common sense is kind of a rarer commodity." Sigh.

"But for now the first thing we're going to do is decide on superhero names. You'll be using these names- not your real ones- anytime you're in class," she says, and yes she's pleased with coming up with that when she has three Peters in the class. "The only thing I ask is that if you are going to go into professional superheroing, or already do, don't use your real fake name. If anyone in the class goes evil and turns into a supervillain, you don't want them knowing your real identity. That gets messy.

"Once we've done that, we're going to go around the room so you can introduce yourselves. Go ahead and add in any powers you're willing to divulge and if you have a superheroing experience, feel free to tell a story. Plus, naturally being both teenagers and potential superheroes, you're bound to want to talk about yourself somehow. We're all about sharing here!"

Which isn't code for Captain Liberty failing at coming up with an actual assignment for class yet, nope.

"Just came from New York last week," Cassie said. "I'm Cassie."

"Nice t' meetcha, bra," Jude said mellowly. "I'm from Toronto. I've been here since the beginning of the summer."

"Nice to meet you too. It's kinda nuts how many people there are to meet. But having a friend from home here kinda helps with the adjustment," Cassie said.

"Oh yeah? That would totally help. I was all alone when I showed up here."

"Teddy?" Cassie said, gesturing over at him. "You know him?"

"Teddy?" Jude looked over at him automatically. "Uh, y-yeah. Yeah, I know him."

"We're teammates back home," Cassie said. "Here too, I think."

"That's cool," Jude replied, that little part of everyone that gets ridiculously jealous over little things too mellow to actually wish Teddy didn't have anyone around. "Friends are good. I really miss mine sometimes."

"I miss my other ones, too," Cassie said. "Course, I hope yesterday's screw up didn't mess with his and my friendship at all. Don't think it did, but... it was awkward."

Jude chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh yeah. Teddy's good at laying out the awkward."

"Yeah, well, asking his boyfriend out on a date was more my fault than anything," Cassie said.

In blissful ignorance.

Jude stared at her. "You asked Chad out?"

That shameless slut!

And no, he didn't mean her.

Cassie eeped. "I didn't know at the time!"

Jude facepalmed. "I should totally be used to this by now," he muttered, face hidden in his hands.

Cassie was confused. "Used to what?"

Jude sighed. "Chad's kinda my boyfriend, too."

"He's whaaaat?" Cassie said.

"Boyfriend," Jude repeated, pointing to himself. "Mine." He pointed to Teddy. "Ted's."

"...is that allowed?" Cassie boggled.

"I dunno. It was totally Chad's idea."

"I have the worst luck with boys ever," Cassie said.

Jude nodded solemnly. "Me too. Well, girls too."

"You've fallen in love with someone destined to be a horrible evil criminal, too?" Cassie asked.

Jude considered. "She's goth now, but give her time?"

"Okay, I'm totally sorry about Chad," Cassie said. "If I had any idea, I... yeah."
