Popular Culture [Monday, January 8, 7th period]

The classroom looked ordinary enough, not much surprises around or squirrels Rose hoped. She took a chalk and wrote:

'21st Century Popular Culture" then after some debate added, "Earth."

Rose faced the class and tried not to look so nervous, they looked to be a varied bunch.

"Right, I'm Rose Tyler." She began, "You can refer to me as 'Ms. Tyler' in class but hopefully not outside of it, since Ms. Tyler would likely be my mother." Rose distributed the handouts. "Before we begin, I'd like everyone to introduce themselves and what, exactly, each of you will be expecting from this class."

She regarded him with a strange expression for a moment at his strange reaction, then shrugged mentally. It was his words that seemed to upset her slightly. "Oh come on, don't tell me you're gonna agree with him?" She leaned toward him, pouting a little. "I'm trying to learn so I can help him, he just doesn't understand that! He's too caught up in his research to bother. If I go home all good at it he'll be happy!"

Edward shook his head. Now was not the time to explain why using alchemy would lead to her untimely demise. "He's got your best interests at heart," he tried instead.

"Put yourself in my shoes!" she said, continuing to pout at him. "Even if I'm no good at it, I like alchemy! Besides, if I can help him out... How can he have my best interests at heart if all he's doing is distancing himself from me?" She frowned, slouching a little where she sat. "...I mean, is he mad at me or something?"

Edward started mentally windmilling again. This was of the severely not cool. He took a deep breath. He knew what his project was going to be this particular semester. "I'll tell you what. I'll help you research ... research alchemy, but you are not allowed to practice it without your father's consent. How does that sound?"

At first, Armony wanted to pout more about this. It was what she did best, after all. Then she had a thought. Who's to say that research wouldn't improve her ability? Far as she knew, her dorm room wasn't anywhere near Edward's... and Liz had dealings with the supernatural. There was a very good chance she could practice without her father's consent and without Edward knowing. She smiled. "...Deal," she said, extending a hand to him.

Edward eyed her but took her hand. The semester was only one day old and he was already getting a headache. "Why do I get the distinct feeling I'm going to regret this," he muttered, barely loud enough for Armony to hear.

Armony clapped both her hands around his and squeezed, briefly. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou~~" she said, then hopped off the desk. "I promise you won't regret this." Obviously, she hadn't heard him. Digging a piece of paper out of her pocket, she scribbled on it and offered it to him. "I'm in 515," she explained. "Come visit sometime."
