Popular Culture [Monday, January 8, 7th period]

The classroom looked ordinary enough, not much surprises around or squirrels Rose hoped. She took a chalk and wrote:

'21st Century Popular Culture" then after some debate added, "Earth."

Rose faced the class and tried not to look so nervous, they looked to be a varied bunch.

"Right, I'm Rose Tyler." She began, "You can refer to me as 'Ms. Tyler' in class but hopefully not outside of it, since Ms. Tyler would likely be my mother." Rose distributed the handouts. "Before we begin, I'd like everyone to introduce themselves and what, exactly, each of you will be expecting from this class."

((ooc: I'm available from 5:00 pm-2:00 am PST. Would most likely be posting classes the night before. We loves us our slowplay.))

"I am Ami" Ami spoke quietly. "I am here because it sounded like fun and I needed a non math or science subject. My mother insists on one a semester."

Rose laughed. "This is as far from maths and science as any could be. Anything particular you want to learn, Ami?"

Ami thought for a moment. "Music maybe?"

"Music, then. Mind you, we might probably talk about pop music, rock n' roll and the like." Rose warned, since Ami seemed to be the type to listen to classical music.

Rose nodded, glad of her reaction. "I'm actually glad we have someone from Japan here, I'm also plannin' to introduce various pop culture references not limited to Western culture. Would that appeal to you?"

"Of course, I am interested in all aspects of popular culture. And that has to include cultures from all over the world."

"Great!" Rose said, "Besides music is there anything else you'd like to learn?"

"Well, i know nothing really about movies. And as for books, i have mostly been studying."

"Brilliant," Rose nodded to Hermione. "Hermione's also addressed that issue, we might even be discussing the merits of what makes a movie, book or TV show part of popular culture."

Ami looked over at Hermione, making a note to talk to he girl later.

"Excellent. That would be a wonderful discussion."
