Internet for Dummies, Wednesday 12/20, 3rd Period

Abby had moved the desks in the computer lab around so there was a clear space in the middle of the room. She was standing there, bouncing slightly and holding an air horn.

"Welcome to our final class! You guys have been awesome and I really didn't feel like writing a final test so I came up with the internet olympics. You're going to be split up into teams and compete against each other for snazzy prizes." Abby waved an hand over a table piled with electronic goodies, NCIS hats and bags and of course, Caf-Pow.

"So grab team members and get ready for the first event, the logging-on relay. First team to successfully log online wins!"

"Next event is about aim. Use search engines to find me a picture of a pinto exploding." Abby grinned. "It's not only about fastest time but least amount of porn found."

"Cool!" Abby raised her hand for a high-five. "Full marks for Jude!"

"Awesome!" Jude high-fived, grinning.

Jamie attempted to do the search and clicked on the wrong link.

20 seconds later his computer exploded with pop-ups of men and women doing... stuff. Lots of stuff. Stuff that should not be mentioned in public by decent human beings.

Jamie? He only finds a picture of someone smashing a pinto bean after five minutes.

"Does this count?"

"Uh..." Abby shook her head. "Half points for clever interpretation of the assignment?"

"I'll take it," Jamie said gleefully closing the pop-up windows.

And losing.

"Does a screen shot from a video game count?" Angela asked. "It only took .13 seconds."

"Works for me, and excellent time Angela." Abby grinned. "Full points for you!"

"Excellent time, Evie!" Abby cheered. "Bonus points for finding an article too!"

Ray sucked at this particular topic and, while he found plenty of information on the Pinto, he couldn't find a picture of one being blown up. He found lots of articles on Lee Iacocca though!

Briar? Gave Jamie a run for his money on the amount of porn found. Except he might have not been that disappointed about it.

"Got one, and no dirty pictures in sight," Mac said, pointing to her search results (http://alltheweb.com/search?cat=img&cs=iso88591&q=exploding+pinto&rys=0&itag=crv&_sb_lang=pref).

"Great job, Mac." Abby said, looking over her results. "Doesn't it make you wonder how the girl is connected to exploding cars?"

Mac gave the picture a closer look. "It does kinda..."

"You think she knows that she supposedly looks like a pinto going boom?"

"If I were her, I'd be worried about who thinks she looks like one." Abby grinned.

"Doesn't really make sense," Mac agreed.

"Unless her name is Pinto," Mac continued. "And she uh... explodes when you poke her?" She paused. "Uh, or not. It's just weird."

"I'm going to hope that there aren't parents out there stupid enough to name their kid Pinto." Abby laughed.

"Some celebrities name their kids after fruit," Mac pointed out.

Door's already found the Google Safesearch feature, thank you. "40 seconds. Except then I spent five more minutes trying to see just what sort of porn people would label as 'exploding pinto."

Abby nodded in awe. "I'm either really impressed or really worried about you. Either way, you get full marks."

Door grins and shrugs. "I have Nuns Monthly flapping about near my ceiling still. Nothing much in the way of that shocks me at this point."

Five minutes later, Kawalsky still hadn't found the exploding pinto. He was distracted, okay?
