There are platters of Christmas cookies and a pitcher of punch on a table in the front of the room, and Elliot is wearing a green elf cap and earrings shaped like Christmas tree balls. "Hey, happy final day, happy four-days-until-your-break day. Have some cookies."

"There is a test at each of your seats; you have 30 minutes to complete it. After that, please turn to the pamphlet and pick a lab you would like to do. You don't need to complete it -- the time's really tight -- but I do expect you to show off proper lab technique as you choose and set up the experiment."

"Next semester I'm teaching an anatomy class, in case any of you want to keep going with me. If you don't, think of me next time you carve up a defenseless animal. Either way, I'll try to post your grades by Saturday."

"Dr. Reed?" Parker carried a small, purple-violet (http://www.firstrays.com/Pictures_orchids/Zygopetalum%20Blue%20Eyes%20600%20x%20400.jpg) orchid up to Elliot's desk. "Happy end of semester. Thanks for teaching this course, I learned a lot."

Elliot fingered the petals on the flower. "It's beautiful," she told Parker "Thank you for thinking of me."

"I was impressed Willow got that to work," Elliot admitted. "But given that the books in my office spent the morning attacking me? The non-singing plant is a nice change."
