Gun Club, 12pm

Parker set up the Gun Club targets, set up the Rules, and then settled in for some serious target shooting while she contemplated disappearances and investigations.

River sneaked in, looking a little nervous.

Billy signed in, then headed for the weapons storage.

Pip signed in and got his Uzi out of the locker.

Occasionally, it helps to practice with the ol' sub-machine guns.

Naomi signed in and got her phaser out of the locker.

John signed in, casted, with a box hanging from his neck. He debates between handguns and trying for practice with teh shotgun & slugs.

Considering his recent mindset during an actual fight, Billy was using this time practicing calming techniques at the same time as firing a gun. It helped with accuracy too.

Pip took aim and began to cut targets in half with his uzi.

Wheeeeeeeeee!

Pippi shoots happy faces into her targets.

Parker now has those nifty earmuffs with microphones for people. So you can talk, *and* shoot. If you really need to.

Who's got a lot on her mind. What do you get the Ex who doesn't want an expensive gift? Or anything else from you?

Coal is at the top of the list.

River waved to Parker. She couldn't help thinking sending him coal was a waste of time.

Parker waved back. Now she was contemplating a diamond necklace for his cat. That would really get on his nerves. "Hey, River. Need any help?" She cast a glance at the guns, then back to River. "I know you've done target shooting before, but...."

Trying to ignore Parker's thoughts, River turned to the guns. "I think I need some practise. After the troll incident." She reached out and let her fingers run over the weapons.

Which helped focus Parker's attention amazingly; handling guns always did. "Why don't we start you with the 9mm? It's the standard one that everyone here uses." She handed over a semi-automatic, then said, "Show me you know how to check if it's loaded, please."

It wasn't something that she was likely to forget. River removed the magazine and opened the actions, showing Parker the empty chamber. She then quickly replaced the magazine and looked at Parker, a smile on her face.

Parker smiled back. "Good. Okay, here's your hearing protection, and eye protection. This place is too small to stand the gunfire without them." She led River over to one alley, and pointed to the target at the end, then the lever next to the wall. "That's the beginner's distance, but if you want to move it back, or retrieve it, the controls are here." She folded her arms. "Take a shot, see if you're comfortable."

River put on the protection, and pushed the controls to move the target further away. She held the gun in her hand, feeling its weight, then slipped her fingers around it, extended her arm, aimed and fired. It was a perfect hit.

"Excellent. Try it again." Parker remembered River's actions at the Fair, and carefully watched River prep for the next shot. "Maybe move your shoulders forward, a little. Just so you don't get tired."

Following Parker's advice, River fired again, this time hitting the target right next to her previous shot. She smiled. "I'm enjoying this."

Parker grinned. "Loud noises, destructive actions, plus having to concentrate to do it right-- what's not to love?" She leaned against the wall of the alley. "How long has it been, since--" And she remembered where River said she learned to shoot. "--you've been doing this?" She added, hoping River forgave her if that reminded her of the past.

The time she had spent at the Academy was a mess of unsorted memories in her mind, some of which seemed unaccessible. She just frowned, shaking her head. "Unclear. Better to relearn here. My own choice."

Parker relaxed, her own concerns on the subject allayed. "Good. That kind of training can be-- unreliable." She thought of Jack, and the memories that had gotten stolen--

Then quickly veered away from that though, and back to River. "Keep shooting, and when the clip's empty, we'll see what kind of score you've got. Your stance and grip are both good, but you might want to move your fingers up, just a bit-- your hands are small enough that you'll get a better grip that way."

River raised an eyebrow at the thought of Jack an missing memories. It didn't exactly surprise her, but still made her curious. It was obvious that Parker didn't want her to pick up that, however, so she said nothing.

With a quick smile at Parker she said: "Will practice. Thank you."
