Internet for Dummies, Wednesday 12/13, 3rd Period

Loud punk music was playing in the lab as the students entered. "Okay guys, we are so behind schedule! I had plans and stuff and then I forgot everything and I was supposed to be taking attendance and probably handing out detentions. We'll just pretend everyone was always here." Abby walked back and forth quickly across the front of the room as she talked.

"I think we're going to work on blogs today and then maybe websites next week. Or maybe I should give you the website for homework and do the regular final project. Of course that means I'd have to check up on the homework thing and since we've already seen me and lists that I need to check don't mix, we'll skip homework."

"Blogs are short for web logs." Abby gave a brief history of blogs and some of the major sites. "Now you get to try your own. Since Xanga is made of stupid and we're not going to go near the hotbed of idiots that is Myspace, I'm restricting you all to livejournal. Go in, create a journal and make some posts."

[coming soon to this post Now playing...OOC threads!]

Jude was disappointed to discover that his seduction style was the bubble. He was hoping for something more seduction-y. Which led to thinking about Chad's seduction style, which was probably . . . Latiny. Or something.

Jude blushed and hurried wrote about this dream he had last night about giant sugar cookie wisemen rampaging through Fandom. He was pretty sure it was a dream, anyway.

Door pokes about livejournal a bit, cursing reading the FAQs and friending people here and there, before she stumbles across a quiz.

"The only one of these films I've even heard of is Galaxy Quest," she mutters. By the end of it, she's got a pretty picture to post, but nothing of substance to say. Finally she types, because she feels like she needs to type something:

This quiz makes no sense. I'm not a fallen angel. I'm pretty sure fallen angels are just a legend, but even if I were a fallen angel, you wouldn't be able to figure out which one I was by asking me what I like to do during sex.

...unless it involved having my lover shout out my name, ______. That would be a fairly good clue, I suppose.

No, she doesn't cut tag the image.

Buffy found a funny thing that she posted on her lj. There was no lj-cut of course.

Angela finds the same quiz as Door, and also scores as Penemue.

Under the quiz result, she writes, This is so strange. It makes me sound way, way more into school than I actually am. But it also sounds like Penemue was like the snake in the garden of Eden? Only less scaly.

I don't get what the questions had to do with being an angel, though. People used to give me angel stuff because of my name and that was always weird.

Last night I had a dream that Fandom was taken over by a volcano and I had to run from lava. Then there were those face-sucky alien things from Half-Life eating at the cafeteria. Then the gremlins came to the rescue and gave everyone pie.

I don't think I should eat so close to bed time.

Evie makes her journal, then writes a bit about being an archaelogist:

... and of course, it's not all glamour and gold and ancient curses. Sometimes people shoot at you. Well, around you. There was a rather heated discussion at one of the dig sites regarding well rights, Aziz's cousin, Hamad's brother, and why chickens aren't an acceptable dowry in summer, and after that it just got nasty. Jonathan and I hid in a test pit for most of the afternoon after that...

Why King of the Bracelets is an amazing, wonderful, incredible movie:

All those boys! Wearing swords! And rushing around saving each other! Eeeeee! Plus there's the language that the author made up too, that's rather keen.

Thoughts on coffee: I really need to join Jake's coffee cult, because honestly, I don't worship coffee. But I'd like to think we'd be very good friends if it were alive. Close friends. Bosom buddies. Spiritual soulmates. Allies in a cold, tea-ridden world...

To recent trauma:
I didn't like being kidnapped. It was frightening and uncomfortable and time did a stretchy trick where no matter how bored you were, only two minutes had passed, and you wanted it to be time to sleep just to do something else, but you wanted time to stop so you could escape. Like that.

But on the other hand, being rescue and escaping were *enormous* fun. Perhaps I can just be on the rescuing part of it, next time?

And on. And on.

And of course, Evie's never heard of a cut tag.
