"Is she usually easy to get in contact with?" She was in college. He assumed she'd be busy.

". . . I haven't actually tried before. But it's her cellphone. You'd think she'd, you know, answer it or check it or something."

"Right," Walter said slowly. "Before you worry, you may want to talk to someone who talks with her regularly and see if they're having trouble getting in touch with her."

"Okay, it's a bit late for 'before you worry'. This is Veronica we're talking about. Little Miss Responsible herself."

"And have you spoken to anyone who talks to her regularly? Before you start to worry more?"

Nadia just kind of shrugged. "I talked to Marty, last night. That took awhile, you know,"

Walter pushed his hair out of his face and shrugged back at her. "If there's anything you want me to do, let me know." It was pretty much all he had.

"I will. I'm just going to keep trying to get a hold of her, for now. Though I'd love to be able to just go out there and mallet her for putting Marty into that position. . . ."

"Marty is a big boy who put himself in that position," Walter said. "Even if Veronica helped him in some way."

Nadia shook her head. "Marty can't help it. He's got this big ole mountain of guilt after being a hired killer. Put someone innocent dying in front of him, or someone he'll think is innocent, and he'll go nuts trying to fix it."

Walter was fairly certain he hadn't known that about Marty and found it rather intriguing. What was it about men in suits? Maybe he and Marty could start a club next semester.

"I still don't see how Marty's guilt and what he does because of it is Veronica's doing unless she manipulated him with it."

"You know how they're both like my older siblings? Well, they're like brother and sister, themselves. And Veronica should have known better than to put Marty in that kind of situation by giving him the potion in the first place."

From Walter's perspective, neither Marty nor Veronica were on his "us" list. They weren't on the "them" list, which was good all around, since it would be bad for Nadia's big sibs to be in the "them" category, but it did make it difficult for him to get particularly excited one way or another about their choices.

"Then maybe she's not being easy to get hold of because she's not wanting to get yelled at for that yet."

". . . Which would be dumb and therefore mallet worthy, right? I mean, what if this were a big emergency, and she's just 'la-di-da, I'm not going to answer my phone',"

"I'm not going to stop you from malleting her," Walter said with a slight smile. "And there could be real problems, but I think it's better for you if you find out more before you start thinking that Bel's removed demon half kidnapped her."

[ooc: I have not been following the plot, so if that's what really happened, it's purest speculation on both my and Walter's part because it would be the most extreme related thing to occur.]

Nadia shook her head. "I'm going to keep trying and see if I can contact her, like I said. I don't know anything about Bel's demon half or how any of it worked, but if he went after her . . . there's a bout a billion people who would be better equipped to deal with him than me. I'm not that freaked out."

[ooc: that works for IC-sake, certainly. I do know what's going on, but Nadia ain't got much of a clue.]

"Good, because I don't want to have to worry ~~more~~ about you while you're worrying about Veronica."

Nadia gave him a wan smile. "You're sweet. But, no, I'm okay."
