Language classes, Wednesday

All language classes:

Instead of a written quiz, I think you are ready for oral. I want you all to chose a partner or two and carry on a conversation with the vocabulary you've learned to far. You may use one language if you wish, or all that we've studied so far in your classes.

I will be grading you on accuracy, pronounciation, and how you explain yourself in anything but English should you hit a snag in your vocabulary so far.

Don't forget to sign up for a presentation. If you have not by the end of school Friday, I will assume you don't intend to.

Don't forget there is lab today and I am also available during my office hours should you have a particular question.

[ooc: talk amongst yourselves. show your forgeign language skills however you like. inaccuracy is expected, as most of you beginners. and it's more fun that way!]

She introduces herself in turn, and asks where he's from.

All in Greek, of course, he tells her he's from Ireland, but has been living in the Untited States for a few years. He screws up a verb tense and repeats himself, with the correct tense.

She smiles gently, and tells him she likes his brogue - though he's doing a great job with the Greek. (All of this, of course, is said in flawless Greek.)

He smiles shyly and looks down for a moment. He tanks her, in Greek. And asks her where she is from and if she likes school at Fandom High.

She grins and replies that she's from Connecticut, in the US, and that she's enjoying Fandom High so far - except that she's one of the few students who doesn't have any powers or military training whatsoever, so she feels a tad out of place.

Connor nods as she's talking, and assures her she's not alone. he has no special powers, and no formal training. His ma taught him and his brother Murphy to handle guns, and he's a good shot, a dead am, but nothing special.

She's relieved, as she always is when she meets someone else who is supernatural or prepped for combat. She asks Connor how he's enjoying the school so far.

Connor smiles. he's enjoying the school wellenough. A bit homesick, for Ireland, but he hasn't lived in Ireland for a long time so he's used tot hat. But he tells her his Ma went back to Ireland as soon as she enrolled him and Murphy and he's still upset about that.

[ooc: My above comment should read "...isn't supernatural...." Damn typos.}

Rory listens sympathetically, and asks if Connor is close with his mother.

Connor shrugs. He's close to his brother. And Ma...He tries to articulate that she's really difficlt to be close to because she demands so much and she's unpredictable, but it doesn't come out exactly right. He shrugs again and glances at his brother.

He sits up a little straighter in his seat and attempts to change the subject by asking Rory if she's close to ehr parents.

Rory replies that she's close to her mother, but that her father has never been around. She was the result of an unwise decison her parents made when they were about fifteen, and her paternal grandparents didn't want her father to screw up his life over a baby. Her mom, however, moved out of her parents house, and raised her on her own.

She manages to articulate this, though she doesn't know all the verbs, and discretely tries to mime what she means.

Connor nods, to indicate understanding. His da walked out when he and Murphy were little, and Connor doesn't really remember him.

Rory gives him a lopsided smile, and says that while her father has been in her life, he's never taken as much of an interest as she'd like, despite the fact that he lived fairly nearby.

Connor gives a sad smile. He thinks that might be worse, to have him near and know he's there and feel like he didn't care.

[OOC: Mun has to run out for a bit...want to wrap this or continue later? I'll be back in a few hours]

Rory shrugs, anxious to change the topic.

[ooc: Eerily convenient, as I have a class that starts in a few minutes, and I won't be home until almost 10 EST. We can continue then, if it works for you.]

Connor rubs a hand ove rhis face. And asks her what she likes to do when she's not in class.
