Dance, Thursday, 5th Period

"We'll continue our practice of the Sugar Plum Fairy dance," El said as the class entered. "Next we will returned to our regular scheduled dancing lessons, once I have decided which dances to cut and which to keep. If you're all ready," he continued as he picked up his guitar and tuned it. "We'll begin."

A guitar. Get one sturdy enough, and it would actually make a decent weapon. Bludgeoning, garrot, all built in!

Billy stumped his way into the class, trying not to look like Long John Silver as he did. Stupid pegleg.

Twirl. Twirl like the beautiful plum fairies that you are.

Nadia now knew for certain that she wouldn't be out of the brace in time for the pageant on Friday. So instead of marking the steps like she did last week, she was trying to adjust them for someone with only one arm to use for balance and gestures, without making them too dangerous or different from what everyone else was doing.

This took a fair amount of concentration.

"...Nadia, maybe you should just help people learn. I won't make you dance if it hurts too much to do it."

"It doesn't hurt, I just have to figure out how to do it without using that arm."

El nodded. "Try for a me for a moment. I'll see if I can think of anything."

Nadia went back into trying to do the dance without losing her balance or using her left arm.

Unfortunately, this cut down a lot on the energy of the dance. . . .

"Try this," El said, demonstrating a modified version of the dance.

Nadia watched carefully, then gave it a shot. "Would that look okay with everyone else?"

"You're injured. I'm sure it will be fine."

"I still want to dance, though. You sure it'll be alright?"

El nodded. "If you want to dance, I will not stop you. I care less for how it looks and whether you are all enjoying the dance. That's the important part of dance."

Nadia smiled slightly. "Cool."

Lana was still pale and a bit dizzy. There would be no twirling for her. At least not unless El also wanted falling and being sick.

River was definitely in twirling mood. She twirled and twirled.

Pippi twirled like the beautiful plum fairy she was to the spicy Latin beat.

If any actual fairies showed up to make trouble though, it was possible that Pippi would go all Lady Cottington (http://www.amazon.com/Lady-Cottingtons-Pressed-Fairy-Book/dp/1857933362/michelf) on their asses.

Willow concentrated very hard on not tripping.

She also hummed the song to herself under her breath.

Well, twirling he supposed he could manage. Except that the same traction the leg had that kept it from sliding out from under him made it like a sneaker on the dance floor. Too sticky.

"Damnit."

El raised an eyebrow. "I never noticed you had a peg-leg before, Billy."

"It's a loaner. My real fake leg's in the shop. Troll stepped on it."

"Will you have it back by the Paegent?"

"I have no idea, John said it would take a week."

ooc: billy will still be in the pageant in the festivus sketch, I'm up for him being used as a prop or something in the dance if you want, could be funny.

"Hmmm. I don't know if you should be dancing, then. How do you feel about it? If you really want to dance, I won't stop you."

"Well I'd like to but..." he looked down at the leg. "Yeah this doesn't seem to be working too well. And I'd probably need some time to make sure the repairs on my old one work."

El nodded. "Then don't dance, then. It won't affect your grade at all."

"Thanks. And, thanks for sunday."

Sam, complete with black eye, ACE-bandaged wrist, and sling, sat on the sidelines, figuring she probably shouldn't be dancing yet.

I'm pondering making the students dress up. Because I'm evil.

River might enjoy that, but she'd probably interpret it her own way.
