There were no handouts or items for demonstration visible in the classroom when the students entered today. John was leaning against his desk, hands in his pockets as everybody filed in.

"Good afternoon," he said when people were settled. "We're going to go off the syllabus today and talk about this past weekend. Now that wasn't so much a hunt as an invasion, but the same basic steps apply. And no that the trolls have been beaten off, it's time to look at what we've learned." John smiled slightly. "So consider this a debriefing."

"Most hunters I know keep a journal of some kind, with information on what they've faced and what they've found to be effective. You now have all faced trolls. What would you consider important to know about them?" He paused and let the class discuss this for a while.

"The other thing you need to consider after this kind of situation, is what did you do right, and what would you do differently if you had to do it again? This isn't to beat yourself up about things you did wrong -- but a chance to learn from experience, to do better in the future. So I'd like everyone to give us one thing they did that they're proud of, and one thing that they'd do differently."

"The females are hot," Alec said with a sage nod. He may have had a lot of medication this morning.

"The females are psychotic," Sam replied, giving Alec a strange look.

"Psychotic," Conner interjected, "but still hot."

"They were definitely more attractive than the males, I'll give them that," Sam admitted.

"And pretty desperate for attention," Alec interjected.

"I think they were desperate for a lot of things."

"I heard they wanted you," he said by way of agreement.

"One of them did, yeah," Sam replied, before realizing what Alec had meant. "Hey! I think the fact that they wanted you shows desperation too."

"That shows good taste," Alec said, smirking at Sam smugly.

"That shoes a willingness to take anyone as a slave, no matter how used they might already be," Sam snarked back.

"Experienced, Sammy," Alec said, correcting him gently, mellow. "I know you're really secretly jealous, but maybe you should tone down the language a little."

Sam didn't know what bothered him more, what Alec was saying, or the way he was so calm about it. "Maybe you should stop accusing people of being jealous, when you know full well that they aren't."

"Why else would you care so much?" Alec asked mildly, though only half-paying attention before he yawned slightly.

Sam grumbled, shifting back in his seat to face away from Alec. "Never mind," he said petulantly. "You're just going to make me say something I regret in class."

"They don't like metal and they're vulnerable around the eyes," Jim muttered, slouching in his chair with dark circles under his eyes from a lack of sleep.

Phoebe nodded.

"The women look human and prey on the kindness of people."

"That it doesn't do any good to be inside a building if the thing you're fighting is big enough to tear it down," Dawn said, then added, "and that the female of the species is smarter than the male, but not as strong."

"They don't burn very well." Alanna said, slightly disappointed. "Also, they're afraid of cat claws apparently."

"They don't like bells," Peter said. "And some can dance surprisingly well."

"Fireballs aren't effective," Bel muttered, half to himself.

"Even if you didn't kill 'em, the wound areas started turning stony."

"They hit hard and they just keep hitting," John says. "They don't give up easily."

"They hurt when they fall on you."

Hermione raises her hand and says, "I didn't get to see them firsthand, but I learned that there are several different species of troll from different regions and realtities." And she proceeds to recite facts ~~that she knows, but her mun is brain dead, so la.~~
