The Danger Shop was set up to look like a small village. John and the Impala were parked by the sign saying "Welcome to Hamlin".

"I said last class that when dealing with something that is a little less common, the most valuable thing you can do is research. That's what today's assignment is about. You were on the road and came across a newspaper article talking about a rash of children disappearing from the village of Hamlin. There was one boy, name withheld, whose siblings disappeared, talked about a figure in the night and hearing music. That's all the information you have. And that's more than you would start with on some hunts." John smiled slightly.

"Your assignment is to pair up and find out what's happening here, what's doing it and how to stop it. You can examine the area, talk to the people, go online at the library, whatever you need to do. It's completely up to you."

"Yeah, I wonder what that's about..." Dawn glanced around as well. "It's too strange not to be important, but I don't know why."

"Deserted road and music coming from nowhere?" John nodded, taking a closer look at the ground. "Yeah, that's strange. Should I try the EMF?"

"Couldn't hurt," Dawn was looking down at the ground, trying to find any symbols in the grass, or spell remnants, or something. "Do we think it was definitely supernatural?"

John pulled out the EMF, switching it on.

"The music is what makes me think something was weird," he said. "Take away the music and I think it's normal yet terrible. With the music...it's just odd."

"Or a radio station that got out of control and is trying to take over the world by beaming signals directly into our brains." She blinked. "Or, y'know, something that sounds less like I should be wearing a foil hat."

"Maybe a deejay is taking revenge somehow?"

"Maybe they're off at a rave? How old are these missing kids?" Dawn double-checked the article.

"Good question," John said. "The music keeps nagging at me. What type was it, I wonder."

"Hopefully it had a good beat," Dawn decided, "It would suck to be eaten to a song you couldn't dance to."

John made a face. "See anything? Anything at all?"

Dawn shook her head. "Nope. Whole lotta nothing. Want to try somewhere else?"

"Yeah." John nodded and put the EMF away. "I think we're at a dead end here."

"Think we should head to the newspaper office, or just start asking random people?"

"Newspaper," John suggested. "Maybe save random people and raising suspicion for last?"

"Sounds good. I hate being chased by people with pitchforks. Gets old." She turned around in a slow circle. "Um, where's the newspaper office?"

John almost asked but he figured this wasn't the time. "Not sure. Maybe we will have to ask someone."

"Maybe. Um, you go first."

"Okay," he said and looked around for someone to ask.

"Excuse me?" John asked, trying to catch one man's attention. "Where's the newspaper office?"

The man grumbled something and stalked off.

"Next time we bring a map," Dawn decided, then spotted a newspaper on a bench across the street. "Hang on."

She chased the paper across the park for a few minutes, then gave a triumphant "Ha!" as she stepped on it, then picked it up and looked for the letterhead. "Found the address!" Dawn glanced at the numbers and street signs. "I think we go thataway," she pointed.
