Elliot handed out a thick packet as the students walked in.

"Hi. Today is botany day, which I know you have all been out of your minds with excitement for. It is the scientific study of plantlife, from the structural level to their purpose in the universe. Today, you're going to be looking at the structures." She explained the structural components and physiology of plants, only blushing a little as she talked about plant reproduction.

"We did a kind of casual dissection last week -- and thanks for cooking turkey for everyone, Jamie, it was only sort of gross -- but this week you're going to do it more seriously."

Elliot started tossing large hibiscus blossoms and small apples at the students, wincing if any hit their marks. "I want you to pair up, and we'll walk through dissections of the flower and the fruit. You're going to be looking at, um, the reproductive structures and kind of comparing and contrasting them. Make sure to fill in your lab reports."

"But why?" Isabel asked plaintively as she reached for the hibiscus.

"I don't know," Willow shrugged. "More time for things other than smoochies? Like - " here she grinned " - more than smoochies?"

"That is true. The only thing better then smoochies is something more then smoochies," she said, blushing slightly.

Isabel chuckled and reached for the flower. "Yup, gee, how about it?"
