Through a Glass Darkly: Spies and Spying; Week 12 - Period 3

Aly surveyed the class with a grin as they filed into the empty Danger Room as they had been handwavily advised through email

"Good morning all.  I'm glad you all arrived without incident."  She adjusted the Danger Room controls for a second and suddenly the students were standing in the Great Hall of a large stone castle.  "Today is preparation for a practical demonstration of the skills you've learned thus far.  Next week, this castle will be filled with servants, nobility, spies, and visitors, and it will be your job to complete a mission that I assign at that time."

She took a seat on one of the benches in the room, and one might notice that she was wearing clothes that fit into the setting perfectly.  "This is a recreation of the castle of my home country.  I want you to spend today finding a partner to work with next week then exploring the castle.  Spies rarely get this opportunity so use it well.  Remember where places are, where hiding spots are, where you can listen to conversations without being heard.  If you have any questions, I'll be around."  She grinned.  "And if you're doing very well, I'll show you some hidden passages.  Keep everything you've learned in mind."

"So go to.  Find a partner, ask questions, explore."

[OOC:  *facepalm* I totally forgot today was Tuesday somehow.  I'm not assigning partners, but I think it should come out evenly.  If you'd rather a partner be assigned, let me know.  Feel free to mod (and have fun with!) the castle's design and what you find.  Just no people are present.  I'll be putting up OCD with different areas to check out so wait for it.  OCD is Up!]

Setsuna drifted into the kitchens, taking a close, careful look around at everything. "It'll be very important," she told Hikaru, carefully running her hand over a table, noticing any marks or indents on it, "to get to know this area carefully if we want to successfully pass off as servants next week..."

Hikaru opened a few of the cupboards and drawers, idlely looking through them, imagining the place if it were to be busy. It was rather tight in there, especially so if there were to be a lot of people running through. Knowing the place well would make them seem more natural. He made sure to look out for every curve the counters and tables made so he'd be familiar with how the place flowed.
"Do you think we'll stand out? I mean.. our faces? Since we're Japanese?" Within the jumble of thoughts going through his head were the thoughts on disquise.

"Alianne-sensei did say that the castle would be filled with visitors," Setsuna said, as she leaned into the fireplace, feeling around the stones; you always had to check the stones on fireplaces. "If anyone got too suspicious, we could say we were the servants of one of the visiting deligates. Of course, then that would bring into question why we knew the kitchen so well..." Setsuna frowned at the hole in the plot as she poked at a hole in the stones.

"I suppose that will be delt with when that comes up..." Hikaru was much more comfortable with improv situations rather than planned excuses.
He closed the cabinets, making sure that the wood didn't thud before he moved past her and glanced into a pantry. "I've always wanted to have secret passages in our house.." He stuck his head further in. "To walk through a bookcase and pop out the floor or ceiling would be sweet."

"Have you ever checked for them?" Setsuna asked idly, trying one more thing in the fireplace before emerging from it in disappointment.

"Yea. Kaoru and I would have made sure to find one if there was one. We know where all the good hiding places are." He took a few steps further, noticing a bend at the back of the pantry that went left a bit further than the eye could see from the front.
