Yomiko opened up the library on time and settled in behind the desk. She'd spent most of last week in her basement with the books, and probably was unaware there'd even been a holiday.

First Period

Ms. Readman was napping at the collections desk. Yes, she knew adults were supposed to set a better example, but it was early.

Second Period

Ms. Readman clung to a cup of very strong tea like a lifeline.

Third Period

She'd found a comb in her bag and managed to correct her hair, which had been looking rather...disheveled.

Fourth Period

Yomiko stared blankly at the computer screen like that might somehow make her latest report to Mr. Joker write itself.

Lunch

The library was closed for lunch. Only library personnel and approved guests should be in there.

Today's lunch was a cheese sandwich and a bag of chips. Very nutritious.

Fifth Period

Yomiko was still working on that report to the British Library. It didn't seem to be coming very well.

Sixth Period

[agentthepaper]

Ms. Readman finally gave up on trying to convince her boss the pink thing she saw in Special Collections was real and decided to read The Epic of Gilgamesh instead.

Seventh Period

Maybe she should learn Sumerian so she could read it in the original. She was sure she was missing the nuances of the poetry...
