Thanksgiving- The cafeteria- Thursday, 4 pm onwards

Once the food is cooked, it's time to set it out, and start yelling at people to get their butts down to dinner.

There's a full spread, complete with all the traditional Thanksgiving stuff. Turkey, sides, and all the fun dessert stuff will be brought out later. There's a cooler full of drinks (non-alcoholic, as hi, Jaye did invite the principal) and everything should be good. And if it isn't... eh. Deal.

John shrugs and eats happily. "I already got the ones from yesterday printed out."

Aeryn frowns harder. Yes, it's possible.

"They look good," he says. "Especially the ones of you just waking up and chasing me."

She rips off a piece of her roll and throws it at his forehead.

This time, John blinks.

"Did you just throw food at me?"

"No," she lies.

"Um, then what just hit me in the head and who did it come from?"

"No idea, didn't see a thing," she lies.

"Such a liar," he says and throws a piece of turkey back at her.

"Behave," she says, picking the piece of turkey off of her lap. "We're in public."

"Okay, mom," he says but throws another piece at her.

"Okay, enough of that," she says quickly and seriously and she just flailed a little at dinner.

He eyes her. "What?"

"Nothing," she says, and shakes it off like she never heard that word. Maybe ever. She's really good at repression.

He eyes her for a little longer. And then grabs a piece of turkey from her plate.

She watches him, frowning.

"Turn that frown upside down," he says.

She stares at him. "What?"

"Turn your frown," he says, "upside down. That makes it a smile!"

She blinks at him. Neutrally.

"Fine," he says and he leans closer and kisses her.

She kisses him back, just a little, because they are at a table. And she might be blushing a little bit, because they are at a table.

"Smile," he asks quietly.

She looks up at him, resolutely not smiling, though it's probably clear she wants to. "But we're eating."

"Doesn't matter," he says and kisses the tip of her nose. "Smile."
