Hunting 101 - Class 10 (Wednesday, period 7)

When they students enter the Danger Shop, the find themselves on the edges of a swamp at night. John, as usual, was leaning against the parked Impala waiting for them.

"This is Laveau Swamp," he said. "It has a little infestation problem right now. Of zombies." As if on cue a low disturbing moan drifted out of the night. "As you can hear," John continued with a small smile. "The bokar who raised them is in a shack near the center of the swamp. Your assignment is to make it to that shack and stop him. There will be some kind of talisman that he'll be using to control them. Destroy it and then get the hell out."

John pushed away from the side of the car and walked around to the trunk. "This particular type of zombie shrugs off most attacks except fire. Now generally, you're not going to be able to get a hold of a real flame thrower quickly or easily, so that's when you've got to improvise." He pulled out an aerosol can and a lighter and demonstrated just how to improvise. (Winchester flame thrower, patent pending)

"That's going to be your main weapon today. Just be careful where you aim when you use it -- you don't want to set anything on fire that you don't mean to, such as each other. Try to avoid that."

"It could be worse," Alec said, trailing behind the both of them as they walked through swamp.

"It could?" Sam asked.

From out of the shadows a moaning zombie came lumbering towards them, arms outstretched.

"I blame you for this, Alec," Dawn said, frowning. "Oh, it could be worse. Well, I hope you're happy, it's worse!"

Alec rolled his eyes. "Yeah, thrilled. Can we get this over with?"

Sam rolled his eyes at Alec. "Yes, definitely," he said, aiming his can and lighter at the zombie.

Figuring Sam could take care of the zombie, Dawn turned around and kept watch in case any others showed up, lighter open and can up and ready. Not that they exactly moved fast, so far...

Sam's flame hit the zombie full on and set it on fire. It made an inhuman screeching noise as it burned.

Meanwhile other shadows seemed to be moving towards them.

Alec was looking around as well, and he stayed firmly behind the other two while motioning them to move on. "Come on, let's get going before we get more of these things jumping us."

Satisfied that the one zombie was down, Sam nodded, glancing around as the other shadows got closer. "Good idea. We just have to move fast."

"Fast is good." Dawn started running towards the shack, splashing swamp water everywhere as she did so. Probably also into the lighter that she still had open, though she wouldn't know that until she used it.
