The Best Medicine: Humor - Period 6 - Class # 10
There was the usual plate of fruits and cheeses with tea and cider on offering as well. Wilson was sitting up on the desk, nibbling some cheese and watching as the students filed in.
“Good afternoon.” He started out cheerfully as they all settled into their seats. Reaching for a stack of blue books, he hopped down off the desk and walked up to the seats, handing out the books.
Each student got two books and then Wilson headed back down to the chalkboard where he began to write as he spoke.
"Thank you all, by the way, for a very enjoyable field trip. I was quite thrilled not to have to bail anyone out of jail, the hospital or hotel security. Now, to get to the purpose of this field trip..."
Up on the chalkboard, Wilson wrote...
This weekend, you were given the opportunity to observe a professional entertainment act with comedic tones as well as illusion. Today, using any notes you took during the act or your own recollections I want you to write up your thoughts about what you saw.
In this write up I want you to reference one of the following types of humor and explain how the act exemplified this form of humor.
The Fool’s Humor
Various Types of Humor
Senses of Humor
Also, I want you to detail out the reactions you observed in the audience in response to the show.
Moving away from the chalk board, he brushed his hands off and smiled to the class.
“Individual work please, you have the whole class period in which to finish and turn it in. This will count as a project percentage to your grade.”
At some point while they were working, Wilson added more writing to a free spot on the chalk board.
Homework:
Work on your projects for the end of the semester. You should be about 2/3rds completed at this point. Remember, the final project is worth 20% of your grade in this course. 0’s are brutal.
[ooc: OCDs are up! Class is in sessionon the way!]
