Seimei was not in class this time. The blue butterfly flitted around the classroom to draw attention to the scroll stretched across the front of the blackboard and then the sign up roster on his table at the front of the classroom.

She landed next to it, her wings opening and folding slowly.

Discussion question –

In 352 B.C, Lord Shang from the Chi’in dynasty rose to preeminence as chief minister. What key military strategy did he institute on the Chinese population and what impact did it have on the old hereditary nobility?

An anonymous messenger carries in a small note, which is left beside the professor's attendance roster. It reads:

"River Tam is currently in the school clinic, being tended to, and will not be able to attend today's session."

It is signed with an illegible scrawl.

"He took land rights away and gave them to successful soldiers, not unlike the Roman habit of rewarding faithful soldiers with citizenship and a grant of land after a certain period of service. He also burned collections of teachings on Confucious and Confucion thought." Wednesday frowned. "He was very fond of rules and regimentation, but I cannot say I approve of how he went about it."
