Constant Vigilance 2, Session 9. Friday the 10th, A Classroom. Period 4

The Doctor was smiling as everyone piled into the classroom today.

"Hope everyone enjoyed their extra-long break from this class. Today we jump into something much bigger than just random alien races that you may never encounter. Today, we discuss the most important thing in the universe: friends. Nothing is really more important than having someone you can trust, someone you can rely on. I've had many such companions over the years. And instead of me talking about them..." the Doctor patted his holoprojector. "I'll have you talk to them, instead. That's the agenda for the day, nothing fancier than that. Talk with some of the people from my past, learn whatever you want from them."

He pressed the button for the projector to turn on, and several figures appeared.

"Go on, have at it. No homework for next week."

Leela's expression turned stormy. "I would not stay, were I you! How do they wish you to defend yourself, should the need arise?" She shook her head, then asked, "And what do the Winchesters hunt? Is there good game here? Of late, I have not been hunting for food. I miss it greatly."

"Mostly demons and ghosts and things like that," Dean replied. "Food's pretty easy to get where I'm from so we don't usually need to hunt for that. So we hunt back the things that hunt humans." He may have been laying it on a bit thick, but hey, pretty woman dressed like she'd just come from one of Callisto's Wilderness clothesmaking classes, who was good with sharp objects. Dean wanted to impress her.

Leela looked impressed and leaned forward, interested. "A noble goal. Are the demons you hunt very difficult to kill? I have found that most things that bleed, are simple to end, given time. But a ghost--" She shivered, eyeing him carefully. "The Doctor has told me they do not exist. But I have never believed him entirely."

"They exist," Dean told. "My Dad, brother and I took care of one at the local brothel just a few days ago. But it's like everything else, you know what works against them, you can fight them. Ghosts don't like salt or iron." He eyed her knife. "That would probably work really well against them."

Leela smiled at her knife in satisfaction. "Ah. That is good to know. Thank you for that knowledge, Dean of the Winchesters. And salt is easily obtained, so I shall carry some from now on." She cocked her head, puzzled. "What is a brothel?"
