Constant Vigilance 2, Session 9. Friday the 10th, A Classroom. Period 4

The Doctor was smiling as everyone piled into the classroom today.

"Hope everyone enjoyed their extra-long break from this class. Today we jump into something much bigger than just random alien races that you may never encounter. Today, we discuss the most important thing in the universe: friends. Nothing is really more important than having someone you can trust, someone you can rely on. I've had many such companions over the years. And instead of me talking about them..." the Doctor patted his holoprojector. "I'll have you talk to them, instead. That's the agenda for the day, nothing fancier than that. Talk with some of the people from my past, learn whatever you want from them."

He pressed the button for the projector to turn on, and several figures appeared.

"Go on, have at it. No homework for next week."

"I thought so, originally. After I got to know him? It was insultingly low," Frobisher said.

"A fellow by the name of Dogbolter," Frobisher said. "As for exactly why, I don't remember. The Doc manages to make a lot of enemies amongst those that ain't exactly on the level, though."

"Yes, I can see how that would be. What was your favorite adventure that you had with him?"

"You can't pick one," Frobisher said. "There was so many places, so many dangers, that in the end, you were just glad to be along for the ride, you know?"

"Yeah, I guess I do." Pippi said. "Why did you stop traveling with him then?"

"Bein' with the Doc, it's like a roller coaster, you know? It's one hell of a ride, but you don't exactly want to live on a roller coaster, you know? You got to settle down a bit, eventually."

"What do you do now?"

"I own a bar, me and the misses," Frobisher said. "It's a nice place. Try to talk the Doc into comin' to visiting me, would ya?"

"I sure will!" Pippi nodded. "Maybe I'll try to get him to take us there... So, um, what was it that made you decide it was time to stop the ride and get off?"

"Just felt like it was time, you know? I missed old Peri a bit, and there was this new chick the Doc had tagging along... it just wasn't the same anymore."
