Constant Vigilance 2, Session 9. Friday the 10th, A Classroom. Period 4

The Doctor was smiling as everyone piled into the classroom today.

"Hope everyone enjoyed their extra-long break from this class. Today we jump into something much bigger than just random alien races that you may never encounter. Today, we discuss the most important thing in the universe: friends. Nothing is really more important than having someone you can trust, someone you can rely on. I've had many such companions over the years. And instead of me talking about them..." the Doctor patted his holoprojector. "I'll have you talk to them, instead. That's the agenda for the day, nothing fancier than that. Talk with some of the people from my past, learn whatever you want from them."

He pressed the button for the projector to turn on, and several figures appeared.

"Go on, have at it. No homework for next week."

Layla was a little weary of the penguin, so she went to the first human-looking companion she spotted. "Hi!" she said brightly.

"Well, hello there," he replied, smiling. "I think I'm supposed to answer any of your questions, if ya have any. A nice lass like you probably has more than a fish has scales."

"Am I really transparent that way?" she asked, gigging lightly. "I guess my first question should be 'What's your name?'"

"Jamie McCrimmon," he said with a little bow. "I'm from Scotland, if ye couldn't tell."

"The kilt kind of gave that away. It's very nice," she remarked. "And it's nice to meet you. How'd you end up working with the Doctor?"

"Oh, the Doctor and some of his friends came around right before a big battle, actually. After things were all settled, Polly asked the Doctor if I could come with them. And I did."

"Oh cool!" Layla said, sounding duly impressed. "Was it like, really dangerous to go with him? Or was it more fun?"
