Constant Vigilance 2, Session 9. Friday the 10th, A Classroom. Period 4

The Doctor was smiling as everyone piled into the classroom today.

"Hope everyone enjoyed their extra-long break from this class. Today we jump into something much bigger than just random alien races that you may never encounter. Today, we discuss the most important thing in the universe: friends. Nothing is really more important than having someone you can trust, someone you can rely on. I've had many such companions over the years. And instead of me talking about them..." the Doctor patted his holoprojector. "I'll have you talk to them, instead. That's the agenda for the day, nothing fancier than that. Talk with some of the people from my past, learn whatever you want from them."

He pressed the button for the projector to turn on, and several figures appeared.

"Go on, have at it. No homework for next week."

One of the projections is a robot dog.

He's all the rage in Trenton, NJ.

Zack stared at the robot dog curiously.

"Greetings. I. Am. K9, mark 3."

"Mark 3? So there are more of you?"

The dog's head moved slightly in a nod and the little aerials that, apparently, represented his ears swiveled in opposite directions.

"Affirmative."

Kaylee gave the robot dog a cheerful wave.

K9 waggled his aerial ears and antenna tail at her.

"Greetings."

"Hi!" Kaylee said. "What's your name?"

"I. Am. K9, mark 3. Pleased to meet you Miss."

"Nice to meet you, too!" Kaylee grinned. "So, you traveled with the Doctor, huh?"

"Affirmative."

"Been to a lot of interesting places?"

"Affirmative. The Master travels extensively. We did not tend to stay in the same place for very long."

Kaylee grinned. "Which of those places was your favorite to visit?"

There's a moment and a few clicking sounds as K9 processes Kaylee's question.

"Gallifrey is one. And Earth of course it is Earth where I live with my Mistress."

"Earth is nice. I like it, too," Kaylee said.

"The Master is particularly fond of it."

Not that Door has reason to be curious about robotic animals or anything... but she grins and wanders over to the dog, plopping down cross-legged on the floor next to him.

"Hello! I'm Door - what's your name?"

"Greetings Door. I am K9 Mark 3." the robot dog swiveled his "ears" at her.

"I'm pleased to meet you, K-9 Mark 3." Literal with names, people from London Below? A little, yes. "Are you really a--" She stops, because she can't quite think of a way to phrase it that sounds polite. "You speak very good English," she says at last. "I have a robot pigeon, but she only speaks pigeon. Sort of."

Robot dogs were like real dogs, sort of, and Stark liked real dogs. Naturally he had to say hello this robot dog.

"Hello!"

"Greetings! I. Am. K9, Mark 3."
