American Political Campaigning [Wednesday, November 8, 1st period]

Josh came bounding into the classroom and threw his hands up over his head. "Victory is mine, victory is mine!" he crowed. "I drink from the keg of glory!"

He grinned and waved his hand at the food on his desk. "So I share with you the finest muffins and bagels in all the land."

He bounced around the room.

"Okay, today we were supposed to talk about putting together a political fundraiser, but I don't care about that right now. I want to talk about the House of Representatives and how we've probably taken back the Senate once Virginia learns how to count and just how smart the campaigns that were run were this go around." He grinned. "Or you could drink coffee, eat pastry and watch me gloat. I'm good with that, too."

Grab a pastry! Marvel at the combination of coffee and election wins!

Isabel's got a little too much on her mind to actually contribute much to the celebration. But she sat with a coffee and smiled at Josh's enthusiasm.

"Hey, Professor Lyman." Parker stopped by at the end of class, grinning. "So. Do I get extra credit somehow, for pointing out that my guy lost the election? Probably because he didn't have llamas in the campaign?"

"I think you should definitely write him and let him know," Josh said, nodding. "Though Burns hasn't conceded yet, the jackass."

Parker made a face. "How can he think he has a shot? He didn't even hold a demon-hunting banquet. It's ridiculous." She grinned. "Although I can't say I'm sorry he never ponied-- or llama'd-- up the expense for one. I'd just as soon see the other guy in office."

Josh grinned. "I've always said that the Senate needs more organic soybean farmers who've lost fingers in industrial accidents."

"There ya go," Parker agreed. "They're very underrepresented." She grinned and saluted him. "Carry on the festivities. I'll look for banners in halls and listen for announcements of drunken celebrations on the Radio tonight."

Marty chuckled. "So how long does the honeymoon for this kind of thing last?"

"In days or hours?" Josh asked, grabbing a bagel. "I give it...oh, two weeks before the President says something sniping about Pelosi, she replies without checking with her press people and John Kerry makes a stupid joke."

"God bless the sound bite," Marty said with a chuckle.

"Allen's stupidity with a soundbite lost him his job," Josh said with a smirk. "The lesson to learn is not to say dumb things to the press."

Coming from Josh? That was pretty priceless, really.

"Really? So tell me Professor Lyman? What was President Bartlett's secret plan to fight inflation?"

Josh threw a muffin at him. "Hey!"

Marty ducked but still got beaned on the head.

"And don't I remember you talking about tax fraud sometime?"

Josh looked for something else to throw. "Well, that's why you don't see me on television much any more."

Weiss, who considered himself a centerist, didn't get all the fuss. He did get muffins however. Mmmmm.
