As the students enter into the Dangershop, they'll see that it has been transformed into what appears to be a New York City police Station.

Lorne grinned at the students and shut the door just as a disembodied voice announced:

"In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories."

Then there is a noise that's best described as:

DOINK-DOINK

Lorne smiled a toothy grin. "Congratulations kids. You're under arrest."

He has a warrant for each student listed:
Jack Harkness
Zuko
Teddy Altman
Sam Winchester

"Sure. You just won because of your easy going nature and natural luck," the other detective said sarcastically. "Spill it Teddy. Where'd you get the tickets."

Teddy was actually used to working with the N.Y.P.D. back at home, well used to throwing criminals at them and running at least. And he watched Crime & Justice on a regular basis too. So he felt pretty confident about knowing all about the legal system.

"Shouldn't I have a lawyer or something?"

Ooo! Maybe he could get She-Hulk to be his attorney!

"Lawyer can't help you here Teddy bear," The other detective replied. "But if you're willing to help us out maybe we can cut a deal."

...don't tempt me. I'm a big enough of a dork to make a She-Hulk journal for just this.

"No, I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to have a lawyer." Teddy said, he was on a roll now. "And was I even mirandized?"

"Well if it's a lawyer you want? That's fine with us," The detective said. "Let's ship him over to processing cell downtown. The public defender's office should be able to get around to him by next week."

"Does that mean I don't have to go to class next week?" Teddy asked. He was far too excited about that.

"Depends on what your cellmate would tutor you in."

Teddy blamed John's influence. He never used to be this snotty, honestly.

There's a knock at the door at a woman then quickly walks through. The other detectives look at her and back off.

"Mr. Altman? I understand your attitude but the NYPD is in a bind and we could use your assistance. Would you be willing to help us out?"

Teddy grinned. "I'm always happy to help out the NYPD."

He gave the other detectives a look that said: 'See what happens when people ask nicely and don't throw stuff at me?'

"Yeah. You're a regular little volunteer," One of the detectives said rolling his eyes.

Teddy ignored the detective's comment and turned toward the woman who had addressed him.

"How can I help?"

"You can start by cutting these guys a break," said a new voice from the doorway. "You want the deal Mr. Altman? The deal is that you help us nab the bad guys and testify to it in court and we let you go with time served."

But he hadn't actually served any time. This detention was just confusing.

"Oookay," Teddy drawled. "And how exactly can I help you 'nab the bad guys'?"

"You'll be posing as a buyer for the fake lottery tickets," the ADA explained. "The detectives will get you lunch and afterwards you'll go out on the streets. Once you testify you will be free to go."
