Good Omens...And Bad: Prophecy in Theory and Practice, Lab Eight

Today the room is arranged so that a movie screen hanging on the wall is easily viewable from all the chairs. In addition to the usual scones, cookies and muffins, there is also popcorn and gummi worms.

"Today we're going to have a brief lecture, followed by a movie. No homework, since you have no classes next week. I hope you all enjoy your break."

"I was trying to use my crystal ball last night and... It wasn't very helpful. We did it in a safe place and everything but, it just wasn't like the other times I've used it..."

Aziraphale frowned a bit. "What happened this time, then? Just...nothing, or did you get unusual results?"

"Unusual results. Normally what I get is cryptic or vague but helpful, sometimes its actually quite direct. But this was just... vague in a completely vague way."

"Hmm. I can see where that might be disconcerting. Without knowing really what it was you were looking for -- is it possible that your results were clouded by something? An external interference of some sort. Or possibly that the answer to your question was so vague because not enough had happened yet to set up a more definite outcome."

"Walter's sick. We were trying to figure out how to help him. Um, that's why he's not in class, and Nadia's with him so that's why she's not here. We did it in the Clinic, and Nadia was with me... We figured it was a safe place but... I guess now that I think about it, it's not the most... People are generally upset when they're there and I guess we weren't entirely calm ourselves..."

Nodding, he replied, "The amount of emotion probably did have a great deal to do with it. Also, the clinic has some protections on it that could have been interfering as well. If you'd like to try again sometime, you're welcome to come and use the apartment. Or I can arrange to meet you here in the classroom."

Aziraphale smiled sympathetically, and gentle touched Pippi's arm. "If Mr Dornez is in the clinic, then I'm certain he's getting the best of care."

Pippi nodded.

"I know but... There's some information that's kinda... Missing. About why it's happening and I think it's important to try and help if I can."

"Would you like to attempt another reading today? I'm free for the remainder of the day, after class is finished, and if you'd like I can meet you here and perhaps see if I can't help you figure out what's going wrong."

"I want to visit him in the clinic and take Nadia some breakfast first. I kinda don't want to do it on campus... To many squirrels ya know?" She joked.

Aziraphale chuckled. "I do understand that. Would the apartment suit better? You're more than welcome, just let me know."

"I would like that yes. Thank you." Pippi said.

"You're more than welcome, my dear. Why don't you just give me call (http://a-phale.livejournal.com/61752.html?replyto=1539384) and let me know when you're ready?"

"I will, I should copy these notes for Nadia... and Walter, before I forget. I'll call you when I'm done."
