Criminal Justice [first period, Tuesday 10/24]

"Good morning," V said smoothly as his students filed into the Danger Shop, which they had been handwave informed was the locale for class that day.

Today the Shop was transformed into a large, cavernous dwelling laden with works of art.

"Every hero requires a place to think and store their weaponry," said V. "Really Strong Guy Who Flies has the Bastion of Loneness, Batman whose meta I can't remember has the Batcave, the police even have stations. And this is the Shadow Gallery." He gestured expansively. "My former home. It's underground, though I shan't tell you where and don't bother to try to escape as you can't until I conclude the simulation."

He paced, and said, "I'd like you all to think about a place you feel safe and secluded, from which you could base your operation. You can start with somewhere you already know, though I don't recommend your dorm room. What would you keep there, though? Your weapons? Your treasures? Your entire home? And once you have answered, you may explore the Gallery a bit for more inspiration."

[Wait for some significant OCD. OCD is up. There is a slight spoiler factor on some of these if you haven't seen the film or read the graphic novel. V will be around to ask about his various clutter, if you want. I'm going to be stepping out to do some errands, but I'll be back shortly. Please do clear it with me if your character is, say, going to poke around V's dressing table and try to find something on him. This is mostly me figuring that a midterm the way I want to do it isn't going to work, and so saving the idea for the final.]

Luke was writing down a list of the things he would put into his secret lair, should he ever need one. He was modeling a bit after Obi-Wan's hut but skipping the part about living on a desert world.

Everything he was including was either a weapon of some kind, easily packable, or both. The Rebellion favored mobility. Sitting around was asking to get shot or captured.

Peter wasn't entirely sure that a castle counted as super secret, but he couldn't think of anywhere that he could defend more strongly than Cair Paravel. He started jotting down a list of important people and supplies and drawing possible lines of defence to attacks from the sea or land.

Teddy knew what his super secret hideout (http://www.marvel.com/universe3zx/images/2/20/AvengersTower.jpg) would be, in fact, he had two. (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lainey_chan/Untitled-1-3.jpg)

Z guessed SPD headquarters would be her hideout, even though she'd only been there once and it wasn't exactly secret, since a giant dog-shaped building tended to stand out especially when it became mobile. She wasn't so good with the whole 'having stuff' thing, though, so her list of what she would keep there was short and practical.

"What if I'm not a hero and I don't want a hideout?" Alec looked stubborn, since V had nixed their dorm rooms and that had been the only place he could even remotely think of to choose.

Dean frowned. "What if you move around all the time?"

"Yeah, I'm more of a 'put everything in a bag' and get on a horse kind of person."

Kawalsky knew what he'd go for. "An abandoned military bunker. Familiar territory, underground, secure."

"I'm not much for hiding," Aeryn says.

Which is half true. She came back trying to hide out here, but after military from two different realities found her, it's about time to give up the act, omg.

Seely started sketching designs.

It might have looked a lot like a pillow fort with a sign saying "HOT GURLZ ONLY ALLOWED".

"I'd probably just use my attic. Or basement. Depending on the house and ease of access to the outside," Peter said, going from experience. "And I'd make it look as normal as possible. No crimefighters there, really."

If John had to hide, he'd build a fort big enough for two, camoflauge it, and booby trap it.

"A house," Tyler said. "Someplace with room to spread out, maybe on the edge of a city so no one would notice what you did. Something that looked abandoned."
