Heroism, Humanism & Hijinks: Literature in Action, Week 8, Period 5

"Good afternoon," Thursday greeted the class. She had coffee. It was a good day. "Unfortunately there's a problem with the Great Library at the moment, but we'll have our field trip during our next class after the mid-term break. I'll send a message around to remind you when it gets closer.

Today we're doing romance novels. Romance novels can be enjoyable for some people. They're often predictable and repetitive, and you'll find that most harlequin romances have the same formula. But they sell, so people keep writing them.

Today you're going to write your own romance novel scene. Don't worry, you won't have to come up with everything on your own. We'll be using a formula in the form of Mad-Libs. Mad-Libs are where you're asked to write down a list of different types of words depending on the prompt, and then fit them into the text."

She handed out a handout with a prompt list on one side and the story on the other. Fill in the prompts without looking at the story. It makes for more fun that way. You can see that if you replace certain aspects of the story while retaining the core idea, you get a brand new romance novel, or so the writers tell themselves.

Enjoy."

[OOC: Mad-Libs time! Have fun. Feel free to use familiar names and go absolutely crazy. The link above and in the comments goes to a Mad-Lib I created for the class.]

Conner chalked that up to Thursday being used to Fandom. "Frankenstein. Got it, thanks."
