Naomi came in for lunch, feeling very relieved that Parents Weekend was over, she selected what she wanted to eat and sat down.

Buffy was writing something on a stack of posters, and munching pizza. And not missing her mom at all. Nope. Not at all.

Okay, she was in major missage.

Alec slide onto the bench opposite Buffy, his tray loaded up with one of everything and two of the fruit salads. "Hey, you! Your parental visit go by okay?"

"I think so. I tried to keep her from seeing the weird stuff." She grinned. "Which is why the tour of the basement. No big cats came to visit you?"

"Nope, no one besides you, your mom, Rory, her friend, Jaye's brother, and Dean." Alec grinned back. "So what was with the sad face when I sat down? Pizza no good?"

Buffy wrinkled her nose. "Pizza's okay, I was just maybe missing mom. Just a little."

"Yeah?" Alec tilted his head slightly, curious. "You want to leave or something?"

Buffy shook her head. "Oh no! Not with cheer competitions coming up and everything!" This reminded her of what she was doing and she went back to writing on the top poster. "But she's my mom. I miss her."

Alec nodded, though he didn't really understand. "She seemed nice," he offered helpfully.

"She is, except she doesn't at all understand my wardrobe needs." Buffy sighed, then brightened. "Oh! Have you decided what you're going as for Halloween? I think you should be, like, a big cat!"

"Like, dressing up as one? Or suddenly turning into a four-legged feline?" Alec asked, unsure.

"Around here, it could be either," Buffy admitted, "but usually it's the first. Don't you have Halloween in the future? You dress up and eat lots of candy and tell each other scary stories?"

Alec grinned slightly. "Yeah, there's Halloween. I didn't get to celebrate any where I was, though."

"Really? Then you should totally do the whole thing this year!" Buffy straightened eagerly. "I think there's going to be a Halloween party and everything! And I'd totally help you find a costume." She frowned. "I'm not sure what I'm going to be yet."

"You could be a puppy," Alec said, looking quite pleased with the suggestion.

Buffy grinned. "But after actually being one, pretending to be one would be a step down, don't you think? It's, like, I can't dress up as a cheerleader, because I am one."

"But then why would I dress up as a cat?" Alec asked, chewing on a bite of salad. "Shouldn't I do something totally different?"

"Well, you're not actually a cat," Buffy pointed out. "You just have catty bits in you. I think you'd look cute with whiskers and a tail."

Alec cocked an eyebrow at her over the rim of his cup of milk. "So like a housecat? Little tiny feline?"

Buffy nodded. "You'd be adorable!" She pointed at his cup with her pizza slice. "And you obviously like milk, even if I can't hear any purring."

He smirked. "Takes a lot more than that to make me purr."

"Dirty!"
