"Hi guys. Ms. Gilmore-Danes had to take her son to the pediatrician for a check up today so you have to deal with me instead. And yes. I do get to hand out detentions. Fair warning."

"Today we're going to go over another television show format called 'Teen Dramas'. Typically, this is a group of friends who go to school together and suffer bizarre and weird plot twists that no normal teenager would ever go through."

"In front of you are some portable video players loaded with some examples of the TV shows in question. Please watch the clips and when we are done we will have a class excercise."

Class Excercise:
"All right kids. Your class assignment is to choose a character from one of the series you just watched and for the rest of the class you will act like that character. The scenario here is that you are all in a strange high school where all of your characters have been forced to go for whatever reason and it is your first day of school. I know the scenario is unrealistic but just run with it. For giggles we'll call it Random High."

"My head hurts," Evie agreed. "Was that Sean who wants to make a motorbike, or you? And did Sean's father make one for his mother? Or did your father make one for your mother?" She frowned. "And now I *do* sound like Vanessa, forgive me."

Luke laughed again. "I think Sean wanted to make a motorbike for his girlfriend. My father made one for a good friend of his who is, as far as I know, anyway, not my mother."

Blink, blink, blink. "As far as you know? I, mean to say, wouldn't she at least, know...?"

"I haven't asked," Luke said. "My father had a different girlfriend when he was here, and she is definitely not my mother."

Parsing this with some difficulty, Evie came up with: "So your father made a motorbike for a friend-who-is-a-girl who might be your mother, but you didn't ask; but he had a girlfriend he did not make a motorbike for, who is definitely not your mother. And they both went to school here." She blinked. "Lord, I need a flowchart."

"I guess I shouldn't mention the part where I didn't know any of this before I came here then, huh?" Luke asked, smiling. "My life is more complicated that these shows."

"Oh, heavens, yes. Vanessa Saturn would refuse to deal with this and go to the beach." Evie heard how that sounded and blushed. "Oh, heavens. I apologize, that was rude. The only complicated thing in *my* life is being here a century after I was born. This really is quite confusing."

"I can imagine," Luke said sympathetically. "I mean, the technology's taken me some time to get used to, and I flew here in a spaceship. How are you adjusting?"

"I quite like it here. It helps that I have a good roommate and a *very* helpful pretend-Big-Brother in Blair. He always explains things to me and tells me when I don't have to do what everyone else is." She turned bright red. "I made some rather embarassing mistakes my first few weeks here. But I've adjusted, really I have. Like Flight Club!" Evie nodded earnestly. "I've seen you there, haven't I?"

Luke nodded enthusiastically. "It's one of my favorite times of the week," he said.

"And you're from another planet? Are you an alien, or are you a human? Not that it matters," Evie said apologetically. "I'm just rather curious. Was it a very big spaceship? Or was it like the ones we've flown in Flight Club?"

"I'm human," Luke said very quickly. Back home it wasn't a great idea to be an alien. "And my ship is a one-seater. Um, a bit like the starfighter we flew a few weeks ago."

Evie looked at Luke with pure envy. "Your own spaceship. Oh, you are so *lucky*. Do you fly it to the moon? And to the other planets? I should, if I had one. Or just to another city, to get lunch?"

Luke laughed. "Not often. I'm saving the fuel in case I need to get home. I've only flown it a couple of times since I've been here."

"Oh," Evie said, disappointed. "I suppose that makes sense. Even the automobiles need fuel. I hadn't considered that. Your home is the desert one that you don't miss, isn't it?"

"That galaxy, yes," Luke said. "I'm never going back to that particular planet again."

"Where *would* you go, if you could go anywhere?" Evie wondered. "What's the most exciting place in the galaxy? If that Rebellion and the fighting weren't going to interfere."

"I've always wanted to see Corellia," Luke admitted, "but the chance of that happening right now is about as likely as me being able to fly by flapping my arms."

"Corellia," Evie repeated, like she'd say, 'Amarna' or 'Thebes.' "I do hope you get there someday. Perhaps after school? Will you be able to get passage there then, perhaps?"

Luke snorted. "Sorry," he apologized. "I have a price on my head, so...probably not, no."

Evie winced. "Ooops. But still. Someday? When your war is over, and you've won, I hope." She looked a little embarassed. "All of your people. Then you can go to Corellia."

Luke felt badly for making her embarrassed. "I'm sure that will happen," he said politely.
