El was dressed... a little oddly today. Instead of his usual Mariach outfit, he was wearing a zoot suit. Complete with long coat, felt hat with feather, and chain.

Yes, it was all in black. He doesn't actually own clothes of any other color. There was also a scorpion on the back of his coat.

"Today, we're going to learn one of the great American dances. Swing. Now, there are many types of swing dance, but I want to focus on some of the most famous, including the Lindy Hop, the Charlston, and the Shag. After all, we can't do everything. Most of us are only human."

El gave a short lecture on the history of swing dance.

"Normally, I would demonstrate with Nadia the steps, but I'm afraid my adventure on the mainland over the weekend has left me injured, and I don't want to hurt it further. So instead, I have a few videos you can watch and try to get the idea. If you need more one and one help, Nadia and I are here, as always."

El walked over to his guitar case, kicked it open and pulled out...

A CD case.

"Today, instead of me playing for you, which would be a bit absurd for swing, we will be listening to the music of one of the greatest Hispanic musicians who ever lived. Lalo Guerro."

Pippi Longstocking jumps, jives, and then signs in.

River signed in.

Lana swooped over and signed in.

Walter signed in and smirked at El's zoot suit.

Nadia signed in with a Hancock-ish flourish of her pen.

Not that she'd understand the reference if you told her that.

Sam signed in with perfectly ~~anal and OCD~~ lettered printing.

Make fun of his zoot suit. Or the fact that he just said "Shag" with a straight face.

Pippi is not making fun if anything.

She seems to be listening intently.

Or possibly she's just enjoying the view.

Nadia tries not to show her disappointment at not getting to dance with El for the second week in a row. She also wonders, if they were to do Riverdance, would El come in shirtless?

To the wonderful music of Lalo Guerrero. Unless you speak Spanish, though, you won't understand a word of it.

Pippi is ready to dance like a wild mongoose.

"Dance?" River asked, spinning around happily.

"Sure!" Pippi said holding out her hand.

"Should I lead?"

River took her hand. "Yes," she replied. "I'll follow."

Pippi tugged River's hand to twirl her in and then put an arm around her for some "waist whipping" fun.

River laughed as they spun around the room. "This is good music!"

Lana danced away happily.

Sam was actually pretty good at the Charlston, but the Shag gave her a little trouble.

From either the zoot suit king or the mini-skirt wonder!

Willow came in looking very tired. "Sir? I'm afraid I can't take class today. I have a note (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1077819.html?thread=60283963#t60283963) if you need to see it."

El smiled as he read who wrote the note. "Go one, go back to your room and sleep. A phone call or an e-mail is enough, for future reference."

"Will do," Willow said. "On both counts. Thank you."

She has a name. And no zoot suit.

This doesn't mean she can't dance.

Oh what I would give for a picture with Antonio Banderas in a zoot suit.

Oh how suprised I would be if such a thing actually existed!

Funny, I was just thinking how much I would like a picture of Antonio Banderas in a zoot suit.
