Fencing Club, 5pm Salle

As usual, Peter had gotten to the salle early to warm up a bit and start laying out the practice blades, pads, and towels.

"Evening, everyone," he said with a nod as the group assembled in the salle.  "Hopefully you're all having good weeks and no one is too worried about their family or friends arriving later in the week."  He grinned the grin of someone who didn't know yet what doom lay upon him.  "Zuko agreed to demonstrate today with his dual swords."  Peter bowed slightly to him.  "If anyone else wants to demonstrate in future weeks, do let me know."

"After the demonstration, do pair up and spar or work on some moves.  If some of the more experienced people could help the newer swordspeople, that would be brilliant."

Zuko stepped forward. He'd already retrieved his sword from the weapons locker. Right now, it looked like he just had one sword (http://www.avatarspirit.net/images/screenshots/207/011.jpg), but if you looked closer you would be able to see that it actually split up in two (http://www.avatarspirit.net/images/screenshots/207/012.jpg) parts.

"Theser are dual swords," he said as he pulled the swords out and seperated the pieces. "They are two different parts of the same whole. It is important to keep this in mind while fighting. Don't treat them as seperates."

He seemed to think this was enough of an explanation as then started his demonstration. The moves were fluid and he seemed to use his whole body as he went through the different stances, his swords reflecting the light as he brought down a target in his mind. Best not to ask which one.

After a while, he stopped and looked around. "Questions?"

While Zuko normally used his swords instead of firebending so he could hide his identity, he was able to combine both.

"Easy," he replied, taking a step back and facing away from anyone. Taking a deep breath, he swung his swords in the air in front of him, a flame building up in the space between the blades. When he his both swords in one direction, he let go of the flame, creating a fireblast.

"They're Fire Nation weapons," Zuko replied disdainfully. "They would melt eventually if the heat gets too much."

"Not usually," Zuko replied. "Dual swords have the conveniency that they draw less attention."

"It does have its drawbacks," Zuko agreed. "We tend to use other troops for covert operations."

"Unless you're setting up a trap," Zuko pointed out.

"This is why more firebenders should familiarise themselves with other weapons," Zuko replied. Once he was fire lord, he'd so make them.

"Not usually," Zuko said. "Firebending in itself takes a lot of intensive training."

"Yes," Zuko nodded. "We're born with it, but it takes training before we can actually master the skill."

"I haven't," Zuko replied briskly. "I still have a lot to learn about firebending. They've been my only duties since I was a child, it's nothing exceptional."

Zuko shrugged. "Perhaps not, but you seem to have learned your swordwork and duties as well."

"Yes," Zuko agreed even if sometimes it felt like it wasn't enough.

Zuko nodded and looked around, possibly avoiding the current topic. It seemed no one else had questions. "I should train some more before the hour is over," he said.
