Music is Love: [10/17]

"Duets!" Lorne shouts out enthusiastically once everyone has signed in. "Two people! Singing together! Making a song that normally be nifty be extra special!"

"Duets can take many forms. You can have two people sing a regular song and switch off during the verses and chorus and get together on the final refrain. Or you could have a song which is a type of conversation between the two singers, like "Baby it's cold outside", and finally you have the album series "Duets" with great singers like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett who are getting old and so the record companies get younger more popular artists to sing with them in a fitting tribute, sometimes ignoring green skinned crooners who can sing better than any of them! BUT DO I GET AN INVITATION? Nooooooo!"

*cough*

"But I'm not bitter."

"So today kiddies, your job is to get together with a classmate and pick a song to sing with each other. If you're feeling shy? Feel free to ask your Uncle Lorne to sing with you."

ETA: "Oh one more thing kids! With Parents Weekend coming up I'm looking forward to meeting all your parents and inviting them to next week's recital! I'm sure they would be very happy to see you all sing."

"Not really. Emo Indie music doesn't have a lot of duets. Oh! Wait, there is one Postal Service song,"

Nadia hummed for a bit, and quickly scribbled down the lyrics.

Pip looked over it. "Which part do I sing?"

"Alright, I think I got it." Pip nodded to his guitar, which he had taken to bringing to class. "Playing along as well?"

"I know the chords, if you want to get the rhythm," Nadia nodded to hers, which she'd also brought.

Nadia fine-tuned for a moment before starting into the opening of the song. She nodded to Pip when it was time for him to start singing, making sure to try to indicate with her chords what the melody was.
