Library [10/12]

Rory hurried into the library with her coffee, laptop, and an armload of reading material as per usual

She's conscious, but clinging to that coffee like a lifesaver.

And now she's "working" online. If by "working" one means playing Bejeweled (http://www.popcap.com/gamepopup.php?theGame=diamondmine).

She's moved on to Tetris (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/nblox.html) now.

And now she has her iPod out and is engrossed in a book.

Now she's eating Pop Tarts and still reading and listening to her music. Best not startle her, fellow aides and librarian as you're the only ones allowed in right now.

No, really, it wouldn't be funny at all. Really.

Rory's somehow found herself another cup of coffee, and is diligently working on homework now.

She's off to Ethics, woe!

And now she's back, and probably looks slightly cranky. Just a guess.

Apologies on how long it took me to post this thing; my internets are being fun and interesting right now. Ergo, if I drop out, I will do everything I can to gain access back and reply. Except between 5-9, as I will be working. Stupid job.

Angela is in the library to cover for Rory.

Angela raised an eyebrow. "Bad day?"

As quietly as he can, Bridge enters the library.

"Hey!" he says, dropping in to a seat next to Rory.

Rory promptly jumps and falls out of her seat.

And then performs the least graceful recovery in the history of the world, scrabbling back up into her chair, removing her earbuds, and replying, "Oh hi," in a very, very casual tone of voice.

Rory shrugged. "Ethics was...you know, Ethics. How're you?"

Bridge tries very, very hard not to laugh. "Good book?" he asks, nodding at the book Rory had been so engrossed in.

She holds up her book so he can see the cover: The Last Empire Essays 1992-2000 by Gore Vidal. "I haven't read it in a long time," she admits. "And it's not nearly as dry as you'd think."

"Pretty good," Angela said. "It's weird, I've been feeling kind of antisocial since the whole Homecoming Queen thing. Like people are going to ask where my tiara was."

"Cool," Bridge nods. "What's he talk about in the essays?"

"Literature, politics, culture," Rory says, shrugging. "It's really interesting, but maybe that's because I'm boring."

"Where is your tiara? I demand to know, your Majesty," Rory teased.

Bridge rolls his eyes at Rory and pokes her in the shoulder. "You are not boring."

Rory rolls her eyes back at him and pokes his shoulder. "Says you."

"Says me." Bridge agrees, with a nod and another poke.

"Are you the Rory-is-not-boring police too?" she asks, poking again.

"I told you, I have many responsibilities." Poke.

"I don't know when you find the time to do anything else," Rory says, smirking a little and yes, there's another poke.

Angela grinned. "Actually? It's on top of my desk so I can see it when I wake up. So cheesy of me."

"If I'd won it, I'd do that," Rory said, giggling.

"You can come by sometime and try it on if you want," Angela offered. "I was telling Marty yesterday that I wished I could wear it to class."

"I had to wear one when I visited my grandparents this summer," Rory said, making a face.

A few minutes after Rory entered the library, Yomiko shuffled out of her office looking like she'd just woken up. "Morning."

Angela made the same face back at Rory. "How come you had to?"

"My grandmother decided I did." She shrugged.

"Morning," Rory mumbled, seeming to address her coffee cup.

"Your grandmother is weird," Angela decided. "Did you at least get to go someplace fun wearing it?"
