Hunting 101 - Class 6 (Wednesday Period 7)

When the students came into the Danger Room, they found John leaning against the by-now familiar black car, the mainstreet of a small town behind him.

"Good afternoon," John said when they all had arrived. "First an announcement. I won't be having office hours tomorrow as something has come up and I need to go out of town for the weekend. If you have anything you need to discuss, you can see me after class or wait until my office hours next Tuesday.

"As promised last week, behind me is the town of Hume. As the information you were given tells you, recently two teenage girls -- Ashley Taggart age 15 and Valerie Brown age 16 -- died under identical mysterious circumstances. They were found dead in the town's dance studio after having been practicing alone. There was no signs of violence on the bodies, according to the autopsies, their hearts just gave out.

"This is typical of the kind of information a hunt starts with. So let's see what you can make of it. Your assignment is to find out what killed those girls and stop it. You paired off last week so go to it." He smiled at them. "Impress me."

[ooc: wait for the ocd's are up. Have at it. Oh and this class? Dedicated to Callisto. :)]

Dean raised an eyebrow. "Well everything here looks normal to me. So nothing's really narrowed down. What would be great is if we had a tester we could send around to touch everything, and when it fell down dead, we'd know what was cursed."

"Like a canary in a coal mine?" she asks. Which she still finds cruel, but she understands the concept.

"Exactly, yeah," he said with a smile.

"Um, yeah, actually," Dean said, mind working fast. "We, uh. Went to school with Ashley and Valerie. Doing a piece for our paper. And, um, wondered what you could tell us." He glanced at Hermione, willing her to play along.

"Yeah, they were. Very special," Dean says, knowing this is all fake but still feeing really weird about it. "Best students, huh? So I guess they got a lot of really good parts. Did they dance together a lot? With any of the other girls?" He was messing this up, he was sure, but he wasn't exactly well-versed in lying and espionage and crap.

"That is odd," Dean said, not sure whether he should worry about being sympathetic to a hologram. "So, what was the part? Was there a special costume or any special props they would have been using?" He floundered. "Just to, uh. Help the other students visualize them. Um. Doing what they loved." This was so stupid. He was totally making Hermione do all the talking to the parents when they went to the girls' houses.

Hermione's eyes go a little wide at that. "Are they here?" she wonders. Not that she's touching them. She'd just like to know where they are.

Hermione looks to Dean with a not-outwardly-stated "We should move on?" but the expression on her face probably says it all.

Dean nodded to Hermione. "Thanks for your help, sir."
