Detention, The Danger Shop, 10/07/06

Upon entering the danger shop, students were greeted with an ordinary looking room, empty except for an area in one corner that was set up with a table of breakfasty-type foods and some chairs. Once all of the students were on hand, however, the room's appearance changed, until it resembled the countryside of central Europe. Germany perhaps, or Austria.

Aziraphale smiled and nodded at each student, checking off their names from his list, and waited until everyone was assembled before beginning.

"Welcome to detention. Since I've been given to understand that this is meant to be a learning experience as much as it is a punishment, I've arranged a couple of scenarios for you today. This morning, you'll each face an...enemy, of a sort, in a different setting. How you deal with the encounter, how you ultimately defeat your enemy, is entirely up to you. I expect you each to draw upon the strengths and knowledge you possess.

After lunch, you'll be working together to overcome one additional challenge. Are there any questions?"

No problem with the leaping. In fact, he leaped atop one of the tomatoes, running in place to try to stay up there.

Well, that wasn't quite what they were expecting. The tomato Billy was riding wobbled a bit, weaving and working in some sudden stops to try and throw him off. The other stopped in place, and rocked back and forth as if trying to figure out how to help its partner.

And then of course, there was still that singing.

If there was one thing ninja training taught you, it was how to keep your balance while riding a tomato on uncertain footing. He wasn't thrown.

The tomato being used as a vehicle was starting to get a little panicky. It rolled wildly around in circles, and would have been flailing if it had limbs with which to flail.

Its cohort was still rocking in place, although giving off the definite sense of plotting as well. After a few minutes, that plotting was apparently put into effect, as the second tomato jolted into a lightning quick tumble, headed straight toward the tomato Billy was riding.

In all the frantic commotion, they completely forgot to sing.

Billy leaped off his perch just before impact, tucking and rolling when he landed.

The tomatoes were moving too fast, and being too flaily, to notice that maybe the plan had a flaw or two in it. Such as, what happens to tomatoes when colliding at high speeds.

Billy was showered with tomato guts.

The scenery faded back to the idyllic countryside of earlier -- sans splattered tomatoes -- as Aziraphale walked up to Billy.

"Very good work, Mr Kessler. I rather think they weren't expecting that. We'll go ahead and break for lunch now, and finish up after."
