Detention, The Danger Shop, 10/07/06

Upon entering the danger shop, students were greeted with an ordinary looking room, empty except for an area in one corner that was set up with a table of breakfasty-type foods and some chairs. Once all of the students were on hand, however, the room's appearance changed, until it resembled the countryside of central Europe. Germany perhaps, or Austria.

Aziraphale smiled and nodded at each student, checking off their names from his list, and waited until everyone was assembled before beginning.

"Welcome to detention. Since I've been given to understand that this is meant to be a learning experience as much as it is a punishment, I've arranged a couple of scenarios for you today. This morning, you'll each face an...enemy, of a sort, in a different setting. How you deal with the encounter, how you ultimately defeat your enemy, is entirely up to you. I expect you each to draw upon the strengths and knowledge you possess.

After lunch, you'll be working together to overcome one additional challenge. Are there any questions?"

The tomato didn't seem to agree with Schrodinger's opinion on the hills. It engaged in a little fancy slashing motion with the sword, and then lunged toward him. As much as a tomato can lunge, that is.

And of course it was still singing.

Schrodinger boredly stepped to the side to avoid the tomato's lunge.

"Your heart wants, your heart wants. Your heart is very whiny."

The tomato didn't like hearing that his was whiny. It didn't, in fact, appreciate the bored way in which Schrodinger was facing it down. Rocking back and forth, it lunged again, this time moving into a rolling motion that moved it speedily toward Schrodinger, the sword held out to the side and waving wildly.

To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
over stones on its way
To sing through the night
like a lark who is learning to pray

Unfortunately, Schrodinger wasn't there when it came down on it. He stepped out from behind the tomato. "Missed. Try again? Maybe your lark can help you."

Missed? That just made the tomato angrier. The tone of the singing was getting downright aggressive, as the tomato spun a couple of times in a circle and then ended up facing Schrodinger again. This time, it took a moment to assess its oppenent, sitting silently in place.

Still sitting silently.

Still sitting silently.

Almost seemed like maybe it had fallen asleep.

And then another lunge, the sword slashing furiously through the air!
