Science! (Thursday, Period 7)

"Good afternoon, class!"

Bounce, bounce, pirouette, twirl! Today's outfit - octopi!

"Rain!" she announced. "It's a fascinating display of science! Did you know that water is the only substance to occur in all three states - liquid, solid, and gas - in nature? I know that it's been a bit drizzly the last few days, which has given me the most wonderful idea for a field trip!"

The students should know what's coming when her dangling encephalopod earrings start to glow.

"Everyone to the bus!"

The bus, having had a while to adjust to the students, has very nicely provided comfortable seats for everyone. Even Chad. Lots of leg room and head clearance.

Gwynn didn't think much could surprise her after the last week so on the bus she went.

Molly boarded the bus and took a window seat near the front.

Chad found a seat and stretched out on it comfortably. He couldn't remember the last time he could sit comfortably in a vehicle. This was the best bus ever.

Greg bounded aboard, gingerly touching his hair and fretting for its sake.

Pippi bounds onto the bus with wild abandon.

Naomi found a seat in the middle of the bus and looked out the window.

Edward plopped himself into a seat and yawned.

Blair found a seat and bounced.

Jaye not only heads to the back of the bus, she puts her feet up on the seat, too.

JD takes a seat on the bus. Suspiciously close, but not too close, to Pippi's seat.

Ranma takes a seat with a pout. Great. A feild trip about water. His favorite thing. Whoopie. He's pouting, and looking way more girly because of it.

Tyler took a seat on the bus ~~not late at all, really.~~

The bus rumbled out of the school and headed for the Galactica Point as Ms Frizzle gleefully went on about the molecular composition of water and all the fascinating properties it had. The bus, however, went right on going once it hit the sand, and rolled right into waves. Completely submerged, the students will find themselves wearing scuba gear. Ms Frizzle's was still adorned with octopi. She drove on, and suddenly the bus began to rise. Out of the water and up into the air.

"As you know, class, water is always evaporating from lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans!" she announced as they disappeared into a cloud. She parked on top of it. "Everyone out!"

The magically appearing scuba gear was handy. Molly stared out the windows at the waters around them. This was the best class ever!

She grinned as they rose through the clouds and got of the bus right away when Ms. Frizzle told them to.

Gwynn was slightly confused by all of the changes that happened in this class, but she had to admit that the adventures were exciting. When they parked, she followed everyone out to look around.

Pippi thought the sudden appearance of scuba gear was almost as good as gillyweed.

"Science is so cool." she mused out loud.

Suddenly appearing scuba gear and driving up to a cloud. Screw the bus; this was the best class ever.

Naomi was kind of used to these field trips and so she wasn't very surprised when she was found that she wearing scuba gear.

Okay, Jaye has to admit, this kinda rules all.

JD, worried about the possible appearnence of sharks, sinks into his seat, watching the windows warily.

The cloud was moving higher and it was getting colder. All around the students, drop of water begin to form. "Clouds are water. The higher up you go, the colder the air is. When water vapour rises the cold air makes the vapour form droplets, which hang in the air as a mist!" Ms Frizzle went on as the drops got bigger and the students got smaller.

In a few minutes, each kid was in a raindrop. It began to rain. "Stay together, children!" Ms Frizzle called as they began to fall to Earth.

"Bloody Hell!" was Gwynn's exclamation as she found herself encased in water and falling.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Chad's stomach stuck in his throat for a moment as they, in their raindrops, began to fall. But it settled quickly, and a string of saint's names ran through his head as he decended, much in the fashion of his friends' abuellas when they got in trouble. Ay, Dios mios....

However, if he was a more expressive sort of person, his exclamation would have definately had been a triumphant "Bonzai!"

Naomi added being a raindrop to the list of things that had happened since she had arrived at Fandom. She actually liked the fall though.

"OHMYGODI'MGONNADIE!"

The rain fell on a stream somewhere on the mainland, and the class was whisked away towards the resevoir that fed the island. Ms Frizzle pointed out the various part of the resevoir system, like windbreaks and protective fences, and anti-dumping protection, as they swam through.

Pippi is taking notes on a dry erase board (where'd she get that?) as Ms Frizzle explained things.

Naomi wasn't physically taking notes however she was remembering everything word for word so that she could take them down once they returned to Fandom.

But they weren't done yet! Ms Frizzle led them to the storage tank and the class shot off down the pipes that carried the water through chlorination, to kill remaining bacteria, and fluorination, for shiny white teeth, and then onwards.

"The force of water as it moved through the pipes is called 'water pressure'. Go with the flow, kids!"

A smaller pipe, and then a smaller one, carried the class up into a building.

Liz turned on the faucet in the girls' bathroom down the hall from the classroom, and the whole class tumbled out onto the tile.

Pippi ended upside down against the opposite wall.

Chad tumbled out across the tile, straight into the wall. Thankfully, he had lost enough momentum to produce anything more than a slightly worrisome, but mostly harmless cracking sound (from the wall, not himself). He sat a moment rubbing the back of his head and marveling a bit at the school's excellent construction.

Naomi lay sprawled out on the floor after hittng the wall and sliding down, she blinked repeatedly for several minutes.

"Alright, class, I'll see you next week! The astronomy class will be joining us, so if you could meet on the front steps of the school instead of in the lab classroom. Goodbye!"

Pippi, slightly damp still, flounces up to Ms Frizzle.

"Hi Ms Frizzle! I missed the last class because I fell through a mirror! Do you need a note or something to make it up?"

"Fell through a mirror? That would be have been an excellent opportunity to explore refraction patterns!" Ms Frizzle offered her some paper towel to help with that dampness. "No note. Thank you for letting me know!"

"No problem!"

I think my favourite line in The Magic School Bus at the Waterworks is "Stay together, class.".

Thanks for all the cold water XD now if only Setsuna was in this class...
