Dance, Preiod 5 Thursday
"Buenos tardes, clase," El said his class filed into the dance room. "Today we will be practicing a particular favorite dance of mine, the salsa."
"Now, there are many arguements as to where exactly salsa originated, but I will share with you my own personal opinion."
El pointed downwards. "Here. In America. In New York City somewhat further north of here as a result of the mixing and combining of the various dances of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the variety of other Latin Cultures that lived there. That, to me, sounds like a truely, and uniquely, American dance.
"Salsa itself is similar to the tango in that is rather freeform, fast paced, and energetic. However, unlike Tango, there are no truely strict rules to Salsa, it all depends on the style you choose. Nadia, if you would please come join me, we will teach you as much as we can."
After practicing with Nadia and letting her re-join her friends, El walked over to his guitar case and, as usual, pulled out his guitar. "Before we begin, I want to see if any of you are at all worried about the upcoming dance tomorrow? You are all excellent dancers and should have nothing to worry about, in regards to either slow or fast dancing. In fact, your homework is to dance at more than half of the songs at the dance tomorrow. Assuming, of course, that you attend."
