Music is Love [10/3] - Period 7

As the students enter the classroom they'll find that the karaoke machine and microphone have been replaced by a movie screen and a movie projector.

"Hey Kids! Grab some popcorn and then a comfortable seat! Today we're going to look at the evolution of music by watching one of the greatest musical films of all time.

After the movie is over, Lorne "Now what's interesting about the movie other than the outright slapstick comedy and fabulous performances is how the movie gives a non-linear history of modern music. After the main number is introduced, the first performance is by James Brown singing a gospel song. From there the movie jumps around to various music genres including Blues, Rhythm and Blue, Jazz, Country and Western and in the finale they go to straight rock and Roll with the brothers singing "Jailhouse Rock."

"I am however slightly disappointed over the lack of Disco in the film but what are you going to do about that?"

Lorne then gave his students a grin as he handed out music lyrics to specific students. "I'm giving your vocal chords a rest this week but as you handwavy know we have a recital coming up on October 27th. If you would like to take the time to practice your song, you are more than welcome to. Other than that? Have good day cats and kittens!"

Sam watched the movie. The Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin parts were her favorite.

Well, and the scene with the penguin and her ruler. Classic comedy.

Marie was glad it was a low key class today after her energetic day of dress shopping.

Marie frowned at the assignment list for the recital and wondered if Lorne made some kind of mistake.

"Are you sure this is right?" she asked.

*laughs a lot* I can see it now, thanks. And *snicker* on the song choice, too. *goes off to class, back in a hour or so*

Nadia had to admire the woman with the rocket launcher. Though she didn't think she should have given in when that guy gave her the puppy-dog eyes.

Zuko wondered if sitcoms had singing in them too.

Zuko wasn't practising and if he actually knew what his assignment meant, he'd be more vocal about it too.
