The coffee machine burbled at the back of the classroom as the students filed in, Logan sipping his own cup of java as he waited for everyone to take a seat. The screen was off, and a table with all of the handouts so far, as well as a few new ones, in nice neat stacks was at the sidewall.

When everyone had seated themselves, Logan stood up, smiling at the class. "'Morning, class. As I said last week, today we'll be covering what your midterm is.

"Until now, we've been covering media and how it conveys information - now I'll be asking you to put that knowledge to work. Your project will be to construct a mini marketing campaign around a product, either real or imagined, and come up with some sort of advertisement that you think would adequately market it. It could be as a print advertisement or a commercial or something of your own devising."

Logan gestured to the side-table with the handouts. "Feel free to reacquaint yourself with what we've covered so far as you guys pair up. If you really want, you can go solo, but I'd prefer if you made more of a concerted effort - two perspectives can give you a better idea of whether you're hitting your mark than just yourself.

"I'll be asking for a short proposal to be submitted by next week. You don't have to detail it too much, but I'd like to know what other information I can have available as well as what kind of equipment you might need.

"The midterm projects will be due by October 23rd. We'll have at least a half-session between then and now where you can work on it in class and ask me any questions that come up. Today you can just focus on finding your partner and brainstorm campaign ideas. Go ahead and have fun with it, be silly or serious. Bonus points for creativity."

"I had one window that I could have stared at all the time, and did," Sam smiled, "but it still didn't beat the fantasy. All those uniforms were the same, you know? We needed some variety."

Elizabeth nodded slowly. "My favorite place there too," she said. "At least you got some when you went home. Our sameness just continued."

"I refuse to believe McKay and Zelenka didn't come up with ways to break up the monotony," Sam chuckled.

Elizabeth just groaned. "I could have done without McKay's attempts," she admmitted.

The snickering continued. "Poor Elizabeth. Maybe you should give up diplomacy and get your degree in child psychology instead."

"The scary thing is? It would probably help with my diplomacy somedays!"

And Sam got a mental image of McKay and diapers and almost fell of her chair laughing.

"What?" demanded Elizabeth, grinning.

"Just..." She gasped for breath between giggles, "the mental image of a pre-K McKay, complete with diapers and rattle. He's no less grumpy."

Elizbeth started to laugh helplessly. "Oh my god!"

"See???"

"I almost wish I didn't," gasped Elizabeth, creasing over in laughter.

Sam waited quietly, occasionally giggling herself. "Not an alcohol ad, but certainly memorable."

"I'm sure it would be an affective advertisement for something else though," said Elizabeth, still giggling.

"Maybe condoms? Abstinence? Lemons?"

Elizabeth just started giggling helplessly again.

"You're no help, you realize," Sam chuckled.

"I do realize that, yes," said Elizabeth. "It's your fault though."

"I blame Rodney."

"Oooh, good idea," agreed Elizabeth.

"So...now that that's settled...back to the project?"

Elizabeth nodded firmly. "Yes. Good plan," she declared.

"I actually like the idea--a dark, gray, windowless room, a huge stack of files, a bottle on its side, and a colored bra and pair of boxer shorts hanging from something."

"I think it would be great," said Elizabeth, giggling slightly. "Maybe the entire ad is in grey scale except for the bra, the name of the alcohol and maybe designs on the boxer shorts? That would make it more eye-catching, right?"

"Oh, I like that a lot!" Sam said excitedly, "Is a red bra too cliche? Maybe green?"
