Constant Vigilance 2, Session 4. Friday the 29th, A Classroom.
The Doctor stood in front of the half circle of desks, beaming with a smile.
"Sorry about my absenteeism last week," he said. "But the only date of any exceeding heat I had was with a hot water bottle, despite rumors to the contrary."
He clapped his hands and rubbed them together.
"Now one of the things that will keep you alive in this universe is not taking things at face value. For instance, you think I'm just your average human looking alien, who happens to have a rather handsome nose and perfectly sized ears. But what if--"
The Doctor pulled at his nose, and his entire skin began to pull off as if it were nothing but a latex mask. His arms shrugged off his clothes, and his mass seemed to double his mass. Shiny reptilian scales shimmered in the light, and bugged eyes stared out at the class.
"I was actually something like this, merely lurking in a disguise with a chip in my throat to mimic a voice and language? Now, don't get too excited. As in actuality..."
The Doctor stood up from behind the desk. "I'm here, and that's just a projection. I'm not secretly a Foamasi, which is what that race is. It's one of the two big races that go into the whole impersonation schtick. The other is a sect of the Raxacoricofallapatorians, a criminal sect called the Slitheen. It should be usurprising that the act of impersonation is mainly used for immoral purposes in the universe. Now, the thing about the Foamasi and the Slitheen is, They're using suits to do their work, which makes them different from the subjects of next week, actual shapeshifters. Now, given I've shown you a Foamasi, which are on the whole nice, but again have some unfortunate organized crime families, I'll show you a Slitheen. Some of you will recognize the race from the summer session."
He hit a button, and the projection shimmered and shifted to a hulking thing with a bloated stomach, claws, and bizzare face.
"Slitheen, though really just a Raxacoricofallapatorian. The Slitheen are just a crime family, but a particularly nasty one. Now here are some handouts, about both races."
He passed out two sets of notes, one on the Foamasi, and another on the Slitheen.
"Study them at your leisure. As for an activity this week... something that has nothing to do with aliens pretending to be human. I want you to pair up, and pretend to be someone you aren't. When you walk into a situation, sometimes being who you are isn't as to your advantage as being someone you aren't. So, try it. Be someone who isn't you, and try your best not to break character. Pairs are as follows: Zack Addy and Cameron Mitchell, Marie D'Ancanto and Door, Kaylee Frye and Alex Krycek, Phoebe Haliwell and Walter Dornez, Pip Bernadette and Pippi Longstocking, Carmela Rodriguez and Nadia Santos, Stark and Togusa, Layla Williams and Dean Winchester. If you've not been paired up, it's because you've been very naughty about your attendance. Mister Harkness will deal with you, and I can't believe I just used the phrases naughty and Mister Harkness so close together in an academic setting. Speaking of, Jack, stay after class so we can have a little chat, will you?"
He coughed. "As for an assignment this week, if everyone could please write a small essay on why it would be a very, very bad idea to chat up a Wirrn, that would be fantastic. Okay, off into your groups, and you can take off when the bell rings. Go on, get to it."
