Fencing Club, 5pm, Salle

Peter arrived at the salle probably quite a bit earlier than he needed to, but he wanted to make sure everything was set up.  Even if everything wasn't all that much.

Once people arrived, he nodded and started introductions.  "I think I know most of you, but I'm Peter Pevensie.  I'm a knight of my country, and I fight with a longsword and with a shield.  I know some of you have been training for years and some have never picked up a blade before, so shall we go around, do introductions to get to know each other and start planning for what people want to do for the rest of the semester?"

"Would you tell your name, what type of swordwork  - if any - you've studied in the past, and what you are hoping to learn?"

After introductions, he smiled again.  "Quickly, some rules we've developed in the salle.  The salle is for training purposes only.  Working with another student or working your own forms or moves.  Any sparring ought to be done up in the gym where there's more space and more people around.  This is partially because unless there are very special circumstances, all sparring should be done with practice blades.  No one needs to be seriously injured as a result of training.  You've probably noticed that we share space somewhat with the gun range.  They do get loud so if anyone has more ideas to dull the noise other than the makeshift barrier and fabrics we've put on the walls, please make the suggestion.  And finally, the salle isn't open all hours like the gym.  It's open 10am - 6pm on the weekdays and 12-4 on the weekends.  Sadly, if you want to practice outside of those hours, you need to do it in the gym with a practice blade."  He grinned.  "Unless your name is Alanna.  That's all I have for today unless someone has any questions or a suggestion."

[OOC: Wait for the OCD if you please]

"I'll leave you the magic, then. I suck at it." Parker pouted at that, then sighed. "At least it's not used much where I'm from. As far as I can tell, anyway."

"You never know," Willow said. "Folks back home tend to not even believe in vamps or demons."

"And on *that* comforting note...." Parker had quite a few nominees for her Soulless in Need of Staking list. "Let's hope I don't have to use the sword for anything except the next invasion here."

"I'd probably go with magic if there was an invasion," Willow said. "I'm glad to be learning swordy stuff, but in an emergency I'd rather go with my strengths."

"If I can shoot it, it's getting shot," Parker agreed. "If I can't set it on fire, or douse it with acid, I'm gonna know how to use the sword." She grinned. "Fandom High. Teaching you multiple avenues to crisis management."

"Ironically? We didn't get these courses back on the Hellmouth," Willow said. "Well we did, but it was more a 'school of life' kind of thing."

"Just kind of sink-or-swim?" Parker shook her head. "I'd never have guessed, judging by Xander. And you too, although the only invasion we've both been here for was the mummies."

"We've had mummies, vamps, demons - " Willow listed off. "Unfortunately some of whom Xander has dated."

Parker shook her head. "Bridge was a huge step up for him in soooo many ways, wasn't he? Damn, I miss that guy."

"Me too," Willow said. "Sure I've got my Xander back home, but it was nice having a Xander here."

"Yeah. I've left him a few messages. I hope he's okay." Parker considered that a moment, then asked, "What's your Xander doing back in Sunnydale? He's okay, right?"

"Far as I know, living with Spike," Willow said. She paused, then added, "I don't get it either."

"Spike. Spike? Vampire, bleached-blond, smoker's nightmare Dru's cuddlebunny Spike?" Parker stared. "Wow. Alterate dimensions really are... alternative. Aren't they."

"No kidding," Willow agreed.
