Friday, September 21, Second Period

Instead of the usual lounge-like arrangement, today the classroom has been set up without any furniture at all. On the floor are numerous large and comfortable looking cushions. Hanging on one wall is an oversized palmistry diagram.

"Good morning, class. Before we begin our lab, I do want to remind you all that your project proposals for this lab section are due by the end of the day today. There is a drop box outside my office door for that purpose. Also, your group project proposals for the regular class are due today as well.

"Now, we're about to begin our first hands-on lab exercise, and so I thought it was fitting that today's lesson be truly, er, 'hands-on'. Find a seat next to your lab partner and make yourself comfortable. Today we will learn the art of chiromancy, or palm reading."

Aziraphale powers the wards on the classroom and then takes a seat on one of the cushions. "You may begin. Let me know if you need any assistance."

Using the following information on palmistry, do a reading for your partner.

Two Step by Step Guides to Palm Reading

[ooc: Obviously, you can't do an actual reading for the other person. However, if you'd like to RP the lab, one possible solution would be to have your partner answer the questions found on the Step by Step sight, and then create your own interpretation based on that information. Or, make something up. It doesn't have to be accurate, especially for those characters with no actual divination talent.

Note: If your partner doesn't show up or tag in to RP and you'd like to play out the reading, ping me in the OOC and we'll switch people around or you can practice on Aziraphale.]

"You go first, then?"

"Sure." Nadia settled herself into the cushion and held out her hand for Phoebe's.

[ooc: expect this to be slowwwww for a bit]

Phoebe lay her hand in Nadia's.

[[OOC: No problem. Work just got busy on my end.]]

Nadia looked at the information sheet, then set about gently trying to bend Phoebe's fingers back to see if she was stubborn or well balanced.

Phoebe's fingers did bend slightly back.

"Okay, that means you're . . . a little impatient but well balanced. Let's see if your fingers are 'wedge shaped', pointed, square, or . . . 'tampering'?"

"Tampering? I wonder if they mean tapering?"

Nadia shrugged. "That makes more sense, anyway. Unless your fingers look like they tend to mess with stuff."

Phoebe looked at her fingers. "I don't really mess with things."

In fact, her fingers are long and a little pointed and slightly wedged.

"And apparently you're creative, artistic, and sensitive. Although, like, half of the things on the list say that the person is creative. . . ." Nadia shrugged and took at the softness, leanness, and/or cuppedness of Phoebe's hand.

Phoebe nodded. "Yeah, I had noticed that."

Her hands are firm and strong.

"You're going to grow up to be a goat herd."

Phoebe giggled. "I am not. Grams would have a fit."

"No, really. See, it says you're dependable. Thus, goat herd."

Phoebe laughed again. "That makes a weird kind of sense."

"Told you." Nadia peered closer. "Okay, let's take a look at your life line."

"God, I hope it's a long one."

"I dunno, I don't really have anything to compare it to. But it looks . . . strong?"

Phoebe looked at the changing line and then looked at Nadia.

"Is it possible to have a strong life line?"

Nadia shrugged. "No idea. Just kind of going off of instinct, here."

'By all means. Tell me what else you see."

". . . Your love line is really deeply set and steady. I guess that means that you care a lot about people, and you don't tend to let go?"

"Yeah, I do have a really hard time letting go."

"That doesn't have to be a bad thing, though." Nadia looked closer at Phoebe's palm. "I don't know about seeing your future here, though."
